Glad you're talking tube amps and mics and not IRs and profiler models, etc. keep it real! Great stuff from that bridge pickup too. Thanks!

@@justinmeyersguitarist You are a fine player bro, you have feel and tone bro, a lot of players don't realize that playing fast with no heart in it is just noise, I saw studio players and producers call this great player an over player and being a player myself, I failed to understand this when I was younger and took note of this in downtown Nashville, that the lead work has to match the song. Who doesn't love an over player tho who also plays guitar? But, the producers called him an over player... You do get the best tone out of your rig on KZbin bro, It's an inspiration to listen to you pick bro, You will do well bro, I was backstage at Travis Tritt and remember his lead guy turning his amp around and used an MXR Dyna Comp in which is my favorite compressor still! I was mowing with a damn push mower in 100⁰ heat when this came on through my headphones in the " mix" selection. Toro, Toro, taxi see you tomorrow my son.. Dire Straights....

There is a lot of wisdom in your advice about sound and how to shape it to your advantage. People misuse gain. It's not needed for a great guitar sound. Remember back in the day when you heard a guitar sound that blew you away? Likely just a guitar plugged into an old tube Amp.

Super valuable information Justin. Especially for new players who rely on pre dialed patches from a modeler for their sounds.

i'm a player that has a "fear" of losing too much tone by rolling off the volume knob, so I usually just keep it at 10 always. My Deluxe at 4 will normally blow the room out (small clubs, garages, etc.). Are you turning yours up to 4 and rolling off the volume?

That’s a good question! Justin, for that situation, would a lower wattage amp be the way to go?

Once you have set up the amp to the point where you can clean it up or get dirty with the volume knob, how do you maintain the volume output of the amp when you drop the volume knob? Is it all in the hands/picking dynamics? I feel like if you go from 10 to 5 on the volume knob its a big drop in volume. Thank for the upload Justin.

Great playing and advice! Do you have a video where you talk more about how you mic up your amps? I'd be interested in learning more about this.

Thanks! Depends on style of music you’re trying to play, but I really like low to medium gain drives. Bogner blue drive is great, Greer Lightspeed, etc
