Nicely trained horse. I’m going to take parts of your training and use them on my horse who is coming back into work. The only supplement I use is oil based too, as with humans I’m not keen on too many supplements but stick to the omegas and scenic based glucosamines. Thanks, I’ll check out your other videos.

@5:00 My old horse (20) used to be a reigning horse. When I try to bend him for flexion he move his back end. I think he thinks I want him to do a spin or something. Any ideas how to convey to him to keep his backside still?
@calista1280
@calista1280 6 ай бұрын
Tying the horses head around is definitely old school and can lead to a dangerous explosion csusing injuries! Much better to use the newer horsemen methods of using reins gently to ask for flexion and releasing as soon as they give the slightest amount. Timing is crucial and the pressure must be released as soon as the slightest give happens. See Ryan Rose on YT for better training methods and insight into understanding how horses think...

Please tell me about your leg wraps,I've never seen them come over the knees before.Does it support the knees?
@horsetrainingpro
@horsetrainingpro 3 жыл бұрын
It protects it from impact. Wearing a quilt under is a trade off with the suspensory support that wrapping(properly) offers. Video on this subject coming soon

Covering the knees is to minimize impact if the horse bangs his knees together while spinning. As for wrapping, you better do it right or you risk what's called a bandage bow of the horse's tendon. When done right, it's a good thing. Especially if the horse isn't in good shape.

A little skeptical of a “pro” trainer that puts a smile on their horse with a bit. How about loosening the bridle a little? Don’t add tone or attitude to this comment. This is a genuine horsemanship concern.

@@horsetrainingpro I would think a reining guy would like them loose. In this particular video the bridle is tight. It’s plain as day. Like I said before this is just a genuine horse concern. On the plus side this is the second video I’ve seen of yours and you appear to be putting out good information. Especially the point you are putting across in this video about physical care and keeping horses in shape.

You had me till I saw that saddle slapping and flapping around, then I couldn't believe you tied the bit to that extreme moving saddle. Your lucky that was a very docile horse, cause there was so many rough moments that was totally unnecessary. I cant even concentrate on the rest of the video. And a professional trainer should have a well fitting saddle for ANY horse. Not just any old floppy saddle. Thats bad horsemanship.
