Every time I watch one of your videos I realize there’s more information than I can understand so I end up going to Wikipedia to do research! That takes time away from watching you but it’s worth it for the understanding I get! THANK YOU from this elderly Texas gal!

I simply wanted to say "good morning" and "goodnight". I watch you at the farm often but I prefer to watch you early in the morning when I arise to start my day. Otherwise, I like to watch in the evenings as I'm winding down. In both cases your whole family brings me so much joy peace and love that I just feel overwhelmed and either ready for a beautiful day or a fabulous night's sleep. I am so overwhelmed and thrilled with the love showered on these beautiful animals. Thank you thank you for enlightening the entire world. Much love and joy.

Just started watching your channel and am enjoying it. I am in my eighties. As a youngster I had a horse that would pace. My dad thought that was wonderful! A much more comfortable ride than a trot. You mention that the pace is an uncomfortable ride. How is it uncomfortable? Not attempting an argument!

Extremely interesting. Very logical way to train.

Hi. Thanks for the video. I only ever rode once many years ago when a friend invited me to go on a ride at his club. I can see there's a lot of work to train a horse, and I can see that a gentle approach is vry good too. Even though I'm not a horseman I appreciate learning a bit about the business. God bless you all X

This is so cool. Any threat of a train coming along?
@homesteadhorsemanship2 жыл бұрын
Nope, it’s pretty much not used on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Maybe once a year we see a train back up down this track. Hardly ever really though.

I never knew how much went into a gaited horse to get it to move right. I thought it was just natural
@homesteadhorsemanship Жыл бұрын
Depends on the horse really.

I had a gated, flat walk, Foxtrotter. I completely ruined it and now it paces. I know it’s because I was holding his head high. I don’t know how to cure in the saddle to get out of a case or into a flat walk. I’ve also tried mouthful and a Tom Thumb. Which do you prefer? Ever stop by Colorado Springs?
@homesteadhorsemanship Жыл бұрын
Of the two I would say Tom Thumb. But the texture of the riding ground helps try pliers field, sand road ditch, tall grass.

hi I’m in Ireland and have just taken on a 6 yr old trotter…I definitely don’t have access to a railway track any other suggestions to train her into a natural trot?
@homesteadhorsemanship10 ай бұрын
Road ditch or set poles two horse lengths apart all the way around riding ring.

This may sound silly but why are they called Missouri FOX Trotters? Why the FOX?
@homesteadhorsemanship Жыл бұрын
That is how a Fox naturally travels. It is a very efficient gait so several animals do it in nature

Good to know! That’s not included in the Wikipedia post!

Isn’t a pace an easier load carrying ground covering gait for the horse !?
@homesteadhorsemanship Жыл бұрын
No not at all. A pace is confirmationally wrong. Their back end can’t be collected and back rounded in a pace because of side to side swinging and being in the air on transition. Call me and I’ll tell you more of my philosophy. 573-201-1553

Hope there is no train coming. Scary to watch.

No. Not a chance. Not worries. These tracks are basically unused.

Do not try this in Europe, an ICE might accelerate your ride quite a bit.😆
