How to get a job at LUSH! and working there with Anxiety

I worked as a Temp over Christmas at Lush so here's how i got a job and how i handled working there when i can hardly speak to other humans.

I just had my interview and I'm pretty bummed out as I was paired in a group with someone who was overly loud and outgoing in an almost agressive way who eventually 'stole my lines' and ignored the things we discussed as a group to just save her own ass. I'm quite introverted and anxious as well and I'm scared that this shitty move my partner did on me won't make me look any better... but I'm hoping that the employees caught on to it. Also, the manager told me that they're definitely not only looking for extroverted, loud people but want a nice balance between extroverts and introverts. This video gives me hope as it proves that Lush does indeed hire all kinds of personalities :) fingers crossed!

Thank you lovely!! My interview is next week, 5th of April and I'm so freaking excited!! I have severe anxiety but I'm currently taking meds which seems to help alot but i am pretty outgoing despite. Also, make sure you get to the dr!! I know it's really hard, I struggle with that alot aswell but if you can manage to fight it, your dr will help you sweety, just make sure you see a good one. sure! there are tons of way you can make it creative, you could pick a song and re-write the lyrics and tell them what tune its too or do a picture digitally or scan it in or even do a video cover letter! there are tons of ways to do it but most importantly try to get your personality across! and if you go a bit wild (like how i wrote in calligraphy and drew all over the page) it might be a good idea to do a type up of the text to they can read it easily which is what i did on the back :) you might only really need to do that with a video though.. i wish you all the luck! keep me updated! :)

I have a group interview/one to one for Christmas temp on Monday and I'm so nervous haha, I'm so stuck on what to wear. Does it need to be smart or can you wear what you want? I've heard you can wear something colourful then I've heard it has to be smart and black or white. I'm also quite introverted so I'm terrified but I love lush so hopefully all goes well!

i can't speak for every store but it should say in the email. we could wear anything but if its a trail shift thats when you need to wear the black and white. dress casual but at the same time you dont want to look like a scruff ahaha i wore a bright blue jumper, black jeans and some tie dye converse :) as for being nervous don't be! the people at lush are exceptionally nice its like the whole point of the job ahaha it will literally be some ice breakers and games. at lush they are far more interested in your personality and how you interact with other people over product knowledge and professionalism. just be yourself and be happy! they will expect you to be nervous its a job interview infact the first thing i said when i got there was "im really nervous" and they were like chill we dont bite ahaha what you have to remember is you are with a group of people who are in the exact same boat. everyone there is just as scared as you are there will be like 2 employees and like 6 or 7 of you guys :) a little cheat i just thought of though is obviously pay attention and what not but dont focus on the games too much, a tip is as soon as you arrive try and make friends with every person you meet thats what they are looking for, someone who can talk and be friendly and welcoming. when someone takes you to the back to show you to the interview room ask them their name, how long theyve been working there make small talk and as soon as you arrive "everyone will likely be sat quiet waiting for the interview to start" talk to the others there. i went up and 2 people were chatting and everyone else was silent. i sat down and asked what everyones names were, where they came from and what they did. they will pick up on that. but obviously dont talk or interrupt the interviewers ahah just be as nice as you possibly can :) sorry i ramble so much i could publish this ahahah

I applied for a Xmas temp position at Lush and yesterday I got a call asking me to go to a recruitment evening next Weds. I have social anxiety and now after watching some of the youtube vids about "how I got a job at Lush" I'm really scared lol. I have had some retail experience which has helped me feel a bit more comfortable with talking to customers and stuff but I still struggle and I dread meeting new people. Help me!!!

Sarah F the recruitment evenings are so chill don’t stress about it at all! The recruitment evenings aren’t really about selling or customer service it’s just to get to know you, you’ll play a few games, they might ask you if you have any favourite products and to talk about them. Just make an effort, don’t sit quietly until you’re asked a question. Introduce yourself to the other applicants and get to know them before the session starts just be chatty and kind. It’s fine to be nervous, everyone will be! just be yourself 😊 they’re looking more if you’ll fit into the team and become a friend rather than just a sales assistant, the sales assistant assessments will come with the trail shift.

Sarah F the butterfly magnet is perfect! You can’t be too weird with lush 😂 and yeah, obviously don’t like slack off or talk while others are speaking but yeah just have fun and enjoy yourself! It’s likely they’ll ask you why you want to work for lush so having a few ethics under your belt is good! They also might ask you to do something that seems silly (I had to sing a song that represents me in my first interview and when I moved stores I dressed up in knotwraps! 😂) this is just to see if you’re confident enough to get involved with demos and stuff so just get stuck in and have a laugh! Honestly though just have fun with it, recruitments are always a lot of fun and never stressful!

HI! im sorry that i missed this!! ive not been able to get online but i hope it went really well! ill give a little advice anyway in case anyone else is reading looking for advice which is be yourself and just get really stuck in! talk to people, demo products, if its quiet change water in bowls and introduce yourself to staff, ask about things... if your stood still do something, literally anything just look busy ahah and if you get stuck just ask, lush hire the nicest people its like their selling point ahah so say your having a bit of trouble initiating a conversation with customers go to someone (the person interviewing you if you want to be a bit sneaky) and just say "im approaching people but everyone just wants to be left alone, do you have any tips to i can get into a consultation?" thatll make a good impression :)

+Sanjeeda Jalil hi! im introverted beyond belief, i sometimes have panic attacks from just walking down busy streets but im living proof that introverts can get hired there ahah, i was shitting myself for my interview and to be honest you will too most likely, but the only advice i can give is the method i used which was "pretend your on a stage" just go all out, the interviews are very easy, they made us sing a song and then we played a few games. i lost every single one but i had fun with it and thats why they hired me so just have fun with it! dont be scared to embarrass yourself just be sure that people are laughing with you not at you :) for example in the song thing a few people just named songs, they didnt pass but the ones that sang (horribly and made fools of themselves) did ahah along with product knowledge they literally asked me nothing. before my interview i knew about 3 bath bombs and that was it they dont look for product knowledge just that your passionate about the same things as the company, kindness, cruelty free that sort of thing but obviously if you like the products it helps. :) i hope this helped dont be scared just enjoy yourself because thats what they look for! they wont intimidate you or try and catch you out theyre all doo gooders ahaha they just want to see if your a friendly person :) keep me updated on how you did!
