I have a question about this video though. I realise that you need to take small steps to make it to bigger roles in the future but I am a wheelchair-user and students from student productions or casting directors from short movies seem more hesitant to hire me because of my Disability because they think it'd be a hassle. Even though I did really well in acting school and I've been an extra a couple of times too in some big films. I can't really get bigger speaking roles without the small time experience first but my wheelchair is scaring small time producers away from me, even though I don't think my Disability would be an issue to the bigger producers of more professional films. So I'm kind of stuck. What do I do?

I can actually say that 3 weeks ago I booked my first leading role in an Ultra Low budget SAG film. The only other film that I had worked on prior was a one line speaking role that ended up getting cut from the final cut. Of course I had taken acting classes and had done multiple plays while I was in college. It’s hard to get a Lead role in any sag film but’s it’s doable. Take tons of acting classes , and try to do as many theatrical plays to build your resume. That’s the best advice I could give.

@@muktapal8244 hi there! For starters I would recommend getting into classes. I've been taking an On Camera Audition Technique class for almost an entire year straight before I signed with my first agency. Another positive of getting in class is your teacher will most likely tell you when they think you are ready to start submitting to agency's. It's hard to get an agent without much experience, I think the best way to get an agent in the beginning stages are with killer headshots and great training. Hope this helped!

I just wanna thank you Kurt. Your channel was the first I came across about two months ago, when I was wanting to get into acting. I attended an Actors’ Program a month ago. It was a taster for next years 1-year intensive course. The next week, I booked a featured extra role (with some help) and had 3 lines to say. I was a nurse in a mental facility talking to the main actors. What a lucky break! Now, I wanna chase more and keep throwing myself at anything that’s there. New Zealand has a lot of opportunities to act. Just need to find and network with the right people. Thanks Kurt!!

Hi Kurt , I totally understand were you 're coming from. I wish to get a lead role for action movies. I get it , it's not gonna be easy as a beginner and I understand. To me getting a opportunity to audition for any role is already exclusive to me but a LEAD ROLE......that will be very amazing . I'm a huge believer that hard work , dedication , taking your time and slowly work your way up is what will determine who gets a lead role . I wish some day to feature in some of the Hollywood action movies .I'll do as best as I can to work my way up by doing what you said. Thanks for the advice , I'll totally take it.

When I saw the title of this video I was skeptical. Getting lead roles is a very tough thing. Some people come out of school and book them right away. This can be misleading for the actor, and it doesn't really build your esteem as an actor. Being in the trenches builds character. You lay this out very well, Kurt, in a non condescending way. Anyone asking this question is a little out of their depth and doesn't have much experience. You treat them very well. Kudos!

For me, it started with classes & how to get a demo?... Vancouver has the best cinematography schools on the planet, So ...I made myself available for the school(s) Thesis films, I got the lead roles and from that I edited my demos, between the student & Independent film festivals casting saw my work and started inviting me for lead & principal roles auditions. Today in this City I am a safe investment for casting to request a selftape and call back interview, you may view my IMDB page my success are from people I worked with. keep up the good work Kurt.

While I see your point and totally agree with you Kurt, on the other hand I think that the opposite can also be true. A person can never have any form of acting experience in their life and still do a phenomenal job. There are a few people who play lead roles and do fantastic job and has never even been in a film before or any other form of acting project. Especially rappers and musicians. They at times gets big roles in movie based on their infamy. I belive people can be natural talented and do a very good job.But what your saying is totally correct and it's best if actors get their track records first.
