This one question I have for you (I am new to the field) have 20yrs experience with Networking, but NO DEGREE. So I do worry, with being 'viable' on the job market. My question is: Does QA Tester, require you to have daily ZOOM meetings? 15-30mins, ok, but my experience... the 'horrible micromanaging' mgr would have us in ZOOM meetings for HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOURS on end. Is this normal? I prefer to work on my own.
@thetestlead2 жыл бұрын
@@absolute-6664urazz some places will have meetings all day and wonder why work doesn't ever get done and try to micromanage you more. But it depends on the place, that's something you can inquire about more during the interview process by saying something like "what would the average day in the role be like for me"?

Hey! I've been looking for a video like this. I'm an IT Recruiter who handles job openings specifically for QA - Manual, Automation, Performance Testers you name it. After working on and hiring almost a hundred of Software Testers, I thought why not try becoming one right? I'm not completely clueless with their job as I have been exposed with the skillsets required and their usual job responsibilities. I'm planning to star learning Manual Testing first before I move on with Automation/Performance. I just hope everything goes well for me as I start my journey with Software Testing. Thanks for a great vid!

I am thankful that your short came my way. I am looking for a career change. Not just a job. I have had my MBA in Project Management and IT for over a decade. But I've never, in a sense, used it to get into the field. I wanted to get into sales, but I didn't know the details of the position.More importantly, there was never such an abundance of resources then as there today. How times have changed. I have been teaching for the past nine years. I wanted to give back to the community in some way. "Cliche," I know, but true. In the I was a business development manager and branch manager with US Bank and BOA. The irony is that folks could never equate banking to sales. Nearly every job that I have had was sales oriented. Anyhow, after the pandemic, I've lost the desire to teach. I've signed up with a Careerist to the QA tester program and will complete my Scrum Master certification this month, but the intriguing of sales engineers is something to consider. With all of this being said, I'm 65 and never thought that I would run into the age gap wall that I've heard so much about. Does the age impediment still exist?
@thetestlead Жыл бұрын
Thanks for all the information! As far as the age impediment, it may exist to an extent. So you may have to just reassure employers why you would be a good candidate and fit for their role. Stress about how you still continually like to learn and are ambitious. Also, 65 today is still young, in health, appearance, and mindset compared to 65 50 years ago so it's a lot more normal nowadays! The beauty about most jobs, they won't know your actual age until AFTER you are hired, so don't stress it too much. Hope this helped and keep me posted on your journey

I'm familiar with SQL since I had to take database classes for cybersecurity, and also SDLC and some scripting and programming. Thankfully, that marks a couple things off the fundamentals you listed. I'm hoping to apply in a couple weeks or sooner. I've been trying to get cybersec internships and have applied to jobs that don't need much experience but there ends up being hundreds to 1,000 applicants. I'm trying to switch gears again... this is so tiring after doing admin and sales for close to 20 years.... I just want a livable and comfortable income already.

Don't lose hope! Start applying sooner than later, it is all a numbers game especially with the new year right around the corner. Many companies get new big budgets to start the year and tend to do more hiring then.

BUT I do know there are other options, and I will never say mine is the only quality one. I'll try to research some this month and then hopefully next month make a video suggesting some off Udemy. If your end goal is programming, you can go from Manual qa(no coding)->automation qa(requires coding)->"regular" programmer(requires more advanced coding). If you are lucky, you may be able to make this full transition in the same company. Once you are a manual qa you can start learning code

Hey, thanks for inquiring. Are you trying to land an automation or manual QA job?
@sunuy1928 ай бұрын
Hey I have some questions if anyone could answer it would be appriciated: Does QA jobs take a lot of skill, is it easy or hard to learn? How does the salary look like? Is this job market over saturated or it will be easy to get into, in 2024/2025. Can you work from home? Is it flexible to work from anywhere, and do you spend a long time of you day doing it? Or can I have a lot of free time? Thank you so much!
@thetestlead8 ай бұрын
Free for other people to add to the answer I think manual QA is the easiest skillset to learn to get into tech. Automation where code is involved is where it starts to get harder. Salaries would depend on your location. You can check places like Glassdoor and put in your location and get a good estimate l. Many jobs have hybrid or complete work from home positions. In the beginning you will honestly spend a lot of time doing it because you are new. But eventually as your experience grows you should become more efficient. Hope this helped!

Hey, this comment got lost and I was never notified. For QA you just need a basic laptop with at least 8gb of ram. Preferably 16gb if in your budget. Once you get a job, a company will normally ship you a company laptop that contains special software for security and usually has all the specifications you need to do your job

@thetestlead Жыл бұрын
Ehh that's rough, can you learn the stuff in 30 days? Sure if you have the time allocation and can quickly grasp things. As far as getting a job, some companies take their time and it may take weeks to months from initially hearing from a company to doing all the interviews to actually getting a job
@richreviews1279 Жыл бұрын
@@thetestlead ooh really it takes so long than why is it in so much high demand.?
@thetestlead Жыл бұрын
@richreviews1279 it depends on companies timeliness. It varies greatly and usually they may say they want to interview 10+ people and pick the best 1 from there. So if you were the first one they interviewed, you may have to wait a while. Also depends on how many rounds of interviews. I've had companies give me 2-3 rounds before the final interview. Other companies may do the entire process in a week or 2.
@thetestlead Жыл бұрын
When you go on the interview you can ask them their expected time frame for hiring. My last company said within the next month. I told them I was on the last round of interviews for other campinies . They then desired to hire me that same week because they saw I was going to be off the market
