Thanks for this video! Do you believe the time in which you apply affects the likelihood of you getting called? Or do you believe they choose log numbers for you at random?

I strongly believe the log numbers are assigned as they come in. AKA first come first served. I applied to buildings at 12:00 AM (midnight) to ensure I was one of the first to apply!

Good question! I'll answer it more in part 2 of the video but it depends on the type of affordable housing you have. For housing connect it does not affect your status. You only have to qualify at the time of move in :)

Thanks for posting this very informative video! I had received a message from them saying I was eligible for an apartment in LIC and to submit paperwork. I submitted all of the documents in July and still haven’t heard back. Do you think my chances of getting one of the apartments in that building are good? I also live in LIC and my lease at my current apartment is expiring the end of November so I hope I hear back from them soon!

you should call the number given in the letter consistently. or visit your city district councilman's or councilwomans office explaining the first letter.

It's no longer 2%. As of June 2022, the board set a 3.25% increase on one-year leases and 5% for two-year leases. Also, the ones in Greenpoint are in Greenpoint, I won one of them.

I was just contacted for an apartment. I've submitted all of my documents, and it says Under Review. The lottery had just closed on June 12th. My log number was #45. It seems I was contacted really quickly, I was shocked. I just applied in May and it closed on June 12th. So basically if everything is good with my paperwork, they will ask me to come in to choose an apartment? Also, I notice on the site it says no deposit or application fee. I noticed you said you paid a deposit? Do they require deposits for just some, because I notice for all of the ones I applied for it says no deposit. Thanks for your help!

Just like a regular apartment I paid first and security! Good luck! #45 is the lowest log number I have ever heard of! You'll definitely get the apartment. 😇

I’m so ready to move now because I can’t stand my current living situation, I’m getting so tired of waiting around. I just hope I get to move by the end of this year.🤞🏾

Hi Melissa! After I viewed my apartment and submitted my paperwork the process went very fast. I heard back within the week. And my agent called and emailed me to confirm. I can create a new video about what may get you automatically denied in the process. That's a great idea! Right now, I know students are ineligible and I'll do some research to see what else could get you disqualified. Have a great day!

congrats on your new apartment! the landlord has the same responsibilities to the tenant whether the apartment is rent stabilized or not. There shouldn't be any differential treatment!

Hello luv, I can’t seem to get this answered by anyone. Hope you can help me out. I’m applying for a below market affordable apartment. It ask to list my assets, I do have a 401k do I need to list the full balance on my account even though I’m not at retirement age and I’m not receiving monthly payouts? . I don’t want it to be considered “income”.

Yes you do need to provide your 401K! They do not count it as income.
