*Important: Don't Make the Mistake I Made* Don't make shorts on your long video channel. I made this big mistake. Uploading shorts will give you a big audience, but the attention span of that audience is very limited. When you upload a long video, they won't watch it for more than a minute. If your own subscribers don't watch your video to the end, the algorithm thinks the video sucks. So even though you get millions of short views, you won't get more than 500 long video views. This will make you unable to get monetized from watch hours. Money paid for shorts is very low.

@@Thestickcreator I too thought about it. But it does not feel right to delete a channel with 18K subs and 5M views. I think the best thing to do is to create a new channel for long videos only while using the main channel to upload both long and short content.

@@GAMER32231 Not a problem. However, it's hard to get monetized with shorts. Even if you manage to get monetized, they pay very little. But if your goal is to build a community rather than earning money, shorts are a good thing.

Great Video as always. Ive only just started KZbin, ive been into fitness 16+ years and enjoy cinematic content so made a channel. However after a couple of posts i realised to split these in two and have a separate channel for my fitness and for cinematic. Still super new, but working 2 jobs full-time, working out after and having time to film / edit is tight so im struggling mainly with pushing content out, but i enjoy it so much it feels very productive so I'll keep going and hopefully be better with time moving on 😀

Vidiq I have a question I went to my KZbin studio and I was looking at my eligibility and it doesn’t show my subscribers at all like the amount of subs I have but only shows my watch time. In my KZbin Home Screen yea sure it shows my subs like 1,861 subs all I need is my watch time which is bad like 5 because I’ll admit I started off this channel as Amv which was years and I still be doing KZbin but only on my second channel which is game and I’m barely coming back to this plus like you said no matter the years it don’t matter when it comes something like it mentions for the past 12 months. Because now I’m doing music for this channel. I actually was 26 watch time but of course going low. But I thought you should know why is my subs not showing on my eligibility that’s the point? Is cause I completed it or are they updating it because it does mentioned showing data as of April 13 2024. And when looking at the vidiq page it does show at least the subs their but not on my KZbin studio app. Although I can see my subscribers on my gaming channel eligibility though….thank you for reading and please someone explain🥺should I worry about it?

One channel I listened to yesterday (forgot the name) mentioned that look at it as a long term investment as opposed to blowing up quickly, if you do that's great but if you don't "quick enough" your video might gain traction maybe even a year from now. Came back three months later to see I've got over a 100 subscribers I think as long as what you share resonates with what people come here for, you'll get the numbers. I am only just learning that i could have grown my channel if i only realized KZbin is not just where i come sharing knowledge and what i do for for fun once every 5 years 😂. You could also grow it if you wanted to and I'm already cooking up more contents. I could have been more intentional and the algorithm would be in my favor

You know when you tell us all to concentrate on our titles, thumbnails, and treat the algorithm like it's a person, not a program. Let me tell you how absolutely insane that is. The alorithm is not a person, it's a program that is supposed to act like a promoting tool by reading your sales pitch (SEO), and placing your content in front of your market. Except that it doesn't do that, then when we point that out you say it's our thumbnails and titles that are the problem... you mean the ones you ranked 94-96/100? So then you tell us it's our content that's at fault. Really? how, exactly is the algorithm separating our content out from face/faceless, spoken, asmr, ripped off rehash, all from an audience no watching because it's the wrong audience in the first place? The algorithm is literally a sales person screaming at a butcher that his products are wrong, because it advertised them at Vegans. Then you're telling the butcher his seasonings and packaging were also wrong to draw in the Vegans, so perhaps he ought to think of better ideas to suit the Vegans. It's exhausting, instead of an algorithm that just places content based on SEO.

The frustration is when you grind to the point your eyes are bloodshot yet you keep grinding. Trying all kinds of different formats and styles and video after video after freaking video gives you the same retention trend of the last video. 2 things will happen at the end either 1 I’m chucking my laptop out the window and deleting my channel or I’m walking away for 2 months. Because there isn’t a failure or a problem that needs to be fixed. I’m doing literally everything. Keeping an open mind trying new experiment after new experiment and that freaking retention graph just will not freaking budge. 😡😡🤬🤬 To save more hair from failing out of my head I just accepted the stinky retention graphs as normal and just kept making videos not caring one bit if they fail because of this stinky graph.

You are almost there. What about if you bring a bit of comic into duscussing autism. Joke with the situation. Do you think something like that might work? Like the disabled standup comedians you see on America's got talent. Don't make the whole video like that, but maybe here and there. Maybe start each video with a joke on some aspect of autism. That way the people are hooked to watch at least a little bit longer than only 1 minute.

@@SonetLandman Yes! Learned it the hard way. Sometimes you just have to turn off your analytics and keep at it. What I learned when I think of it is that my sample size is still relatively small. And even though it’s been years KZbin still hasn’t accurately categorized me yet to find my right audience but it’s getting there. So I can’t really dive head first into the data and take it to heart. I have to check it sparingly. Once every little bit. So I don’t lose the bit of hair I have left haha.

I really have been keeping an open mind and not leaving anything on the table when it comes with experimentation. The thing that would always get to me is how nothing seemed to hook the viewer at least for something longer than a few minutes. I didn’t think it would be this much of a challenge to actually hook viewers. Yet here I am losing hair over it hahaha. I haven’t stopped as a matter a fact I have 4 videos I’m in process of working on for the near future. And they all have different styles and formats etc.

Very sad state of affairs for society. They also do not like to watch intellectual stuff. They want to be entertained by stupid silly nonsense. But you are not at 1000 subscribers yet. Give it time. You might be a bit impatient. Once you hit the 1000 sub mark things change for a bit in your favour.

Hi Vidiq I got a question and I desperately needs an answer , it about Ai generated content. All of these videos are perfectly fine. They all have good intentions for ninety nine percent of the kind of videos out there, but I want to kindly ask, WHAT ABOUT THE GAMING CHANNELS? I feel like all of these videos are made for every other genre. I can attest that we have implemented every single strategy from every single one of these videos that we possibly can. Growing a gaming channel is the hardest thing to do on youtube period! You are not uploading regularly enough for being such a new, small channel. You are obviously not going to be one of the lucky blow up channels, so you are really going to work very hard at it. You must make the algorithm recognize your existence on KZbin. At this stage of a channel we all have about the same amount of views and total lack of engagement in the comment section, but if you keep on pushing it will pick up eventually, but it can take up to 3 years. Just be careful for reused content. Many channels are denied monetisation because of reused content.

So far I feel like I'm doing pretty well. I'm a little over 2 months into my YT journey and I have uploaded 16 videos so far. I'm right at 300 subscribers and the watch time is even better at 1500 hours so I'm already half way on that one. My last three video's haven't done nearly as well though. The worst thing that I see on my metrics is definitely my retention as on all of my videos it's pretty lousy. I don't think I have a single video that is over 20% retention when it's at the end.
