This is absolutely amazing. I watched your video on the guaranteed method to get blue roses the other day and it was well laid out and explained so I was going to attempt it. Luckily today I ended up on a nook mile island with orange and pink roses and later on in the day this video came out saying it’s confirmed I can get blue roses by combining the nook mile orange ones. There’s no way I would’ve known that if it weren’t for this video so thank you so much for all the research you guys put into this, it’s much appreciated! Can you tell me witch kind of flowers you planted for example in the first pattern when you explain at min 2:44? I mean, that bunch of 4 flowers it is same flower colour or it is different colours and how we should plant, because in the image with flowers in white squares you put only a red tulip as symbol of any flower, of course... Sorry about that. So if you are using the plus shape you want to make sure you use 2 different colors and don’t have the same colors touching each other. If you have 4 of the same flower together then you’ll want to just put them in a 2x2 square. I’ll be doing a layout guide in the master guide I’m working on in the future and I’ll try to keep everything clear. Thanks for the feedback there!

It’s worth noting that you don’t need the gold watering can to get gold roses. Multiple times after it rained on my island I found gold roses growing even though I hadn’t used a gold watering can.

Hi Kyro, a frequenter of #garden-science on the ACNH discord here. It's otherwise correct but you have the wrong gene for the pink windflower bred from the red and orange seed - it's actually Rr-Oo-WW or 01-01-00 rather than the rr-oo-Ww/00-00-01 you have in the video. It shouldn't affect anyone unless they're trying to track their genes fully rather than make the end-result colours, however. Thanks for making one of the few factually correct guides out there!

Thankfully my secondary flower is windflower & I did come across a hybrid island with windflowers so I pocketed a bunch of blues & some pinks to take home & now I have lots of purples that my friend was willing to pay me 50k bells for each one & I'm like, these are easy to get, why are you paying so high? Now I know that they're super tricky to get without getting the Nook Miles hybrid windflowers. I put a ton of those into Rhonda's flower garden since the color matches her, I wanted them for that specific purpose.

I've been trying to get blue roses for some time and I finally got 2 of them, not from my actual breeding area but from my garden that's purely there to look cute. I guess I have two of my island oranges next to each other by coincidence because both of the blue ones I have sprouted in the same spot. I would assume that the island orange technique is better seeing as I've activly been trying the hybrid red one for some time and not getting anything but I didnt actually test this so dont take my word for it.

Island oranges are the fastest method, BackwardsN’s the second, forlorn oranges is third pelah’s is the fourth and the hybrid reds from most guides is last (because they also produce reds without the genes for blue). But anyways congrats on the blues! Now you can just clone them :)

Couldn't you theoretically breed your own Mystery Island black tulips by continuously breeding orange tulips together? At some point those oranges would spit out a genetic RR-Yy-ss. I'm not overlooking something, am I? I mean by that math you could also eventually get a genetic non-mystery island black tulip too.

Probably this is correct. The main issue is like you said it can produce non-mystery island blacks as well. There's a ton of ways to get each flower, the guides there aim to get them fairly quickly and with certainty.

I do not know if this is true, but i read that if you get some hybrid *island* orange roses and breed those together to make red roses, you can breed those red roses for a 25% chance to get a blue. I saw it on instagram so it could be completely false, but i’m testing it out myself to see if its true.

HI! Appreciate this video. There is sooooo much misinformation out there. ALSO, FOR EXAMPLE: Is it faster to grow ORANGE TULIPS from RED & YELLOW ...... OR should i grow 4 Oranges and just use those to breed more oranges?

DNO33 i think it would be best to duplicate the oranges you get and continue breeding from seed red and yellow to get more. Happy to spread the info the data miners have worked so hard to achieve! :)

Thanks for the graphics, they are easy to understand and contain nice details. Do you have info on cross-breeding flowers as well? I read somewhere that some flowers can mixed with others but some don’t.

There’s info in Paleh’s text guide. It can be found in the description of the first blue rose guide or in discord. Roses and windflowers for example can not breed together. Only flowers of the same type like roses and more roses. Anyways it’s a good read (it’s linked in the reddit post).

Could you do a full Rose breeding list, ive been searching online and there are supposedly several ways to get hybrid reds and not sure what is actually true or not. one of the methods was Purple + S Red could produce the Hybrid pink, the one with Mystery WW values, and that H Pink with Yellow could make H Red for blues.

Since that spreadsheet has such high traffic I can't get on it, I believe Island Orange Rose is likely RR-YY-Ws-ss. Of all the genotypes listed for orange flowers in ACNH only 3 can produce the Blue Rose genetics of RR-YY-ww-ss. Those are Rr-YY-Ww-Ss which would give Blue Roses 1/64 chance. Unlikely since we can do that with Hybrid Reds. RR-YY-Ww-Ss is 1/16, which is certainly better. But all the other island flowers make their rare flower hybrid in 1/4. Which, just so happens to be the combination for RR-YY-Ww-ss. Now, breeding the Island Orange is a much different story. The hybrid reds can do the Island Orange 1/32 times. To breed the Island Orange every time you would need RR-YY-WW-ss x RR-YY-ww-ss. And in that case you would have to test your colors, as Hybrid Reds seem to be able to throw 5 Orange genotypes that cannot make Blue and only 1 that can. Plus, you would be breeding Orange to Blue in that combo and you would just want those to duplicate. Obviously some speculation there, but since the other rare island flowers bred together give 25% of the really rare color, and there is an orange combination of genotype that does exactly that, it seems likely. Further to that. Island Pink Windflower should be RR-oo-Ww and Island Blue Windflower should be Rr-Oo-WW or Rr-OO-WW.

Anthony Gonzalez the short answer is that unless it’s a 100% chance the cross breeding makes the flower you want then it’s more efficient to have the duplicate via asexual reproduction.

Sooo I was breeding red and yellow hyacinths for orange and I got many generations of red and yellow hybrids. After a while I stopped picking them up because I was working on a different project but then purples grew from yellows and I was like ?????? The genes helped me realize that it was because of the orange genes inside of them, but how would they even get to that point to where they can act like oranges?

they can produce 3 different types of yellow. Not all can breed the green mum.
