At gcse I got a 9, with 98% overall, however I am about to finish my first year of a levels and I am working around a C/D, I don’t know what went wrong or what I need to do, no matter what revision I do I seem to get the same marks. I need an A to get into the university I want! Do you know anything that could help?!
@justadiamond49614 жыл бұрын
Honestly, please don’t worry!! I was exactly the same and so was EVERYBODY in my class! As long as you keep working consistently it will all come together in the end. However, I would say try to repeat the same mocks you‘ve already done to see if you keep going wrong in the same places so then you can work on it. But please don’t keep thinking about what you NEED to get, just focus on doing your best and it will come - extra pressure doesn’t help 💗

@misbahsaeed5644 жыл бұрын
If your really determined and love chemistry 🧪 then you can really do it and have faith in your self . You have a week or 2 before starting the course, you can always change your A level in the first 2 week and don’t worry about catching up ( you’ll have plenty of time to catch up in between your lessons ) . I hope it goes well for you 👍

I need a bit of help guysss... I don’t know what I want to do for A-levels, and I’m torn between careers as well. My biggest dream is to be in a Broadway musical (I’m a grade 8 singer) but because that is sort of unrealistic, I don’t think I’ll be doing any music / drama courses :/ I’ve also always wanted to be a vet, so that’s why I came here. Chemistry is necessary but apparently it’s so hard. I really don’t enjoy it at GCSE (triple science) and I’m only predicted a 6/7. My maths isn’t great either, I’m only predicted a 6. I’m going to do Pyschology and Biology for 2 of my A-levels. Biology is good for me, I am predicted an 8 (same goes for psychology) and I do enjoy it. And midwifery also really interests me as a career. I’ve heard that chemistry is the hardest A-level to exist!! I don’t know if I should force myself through the pain of chemistry and be a vet, or just pick something like music that I love but I doubt will get me anywhere... Help!!
@justadiamond49614 жыл бұрын
Deep breaths!! You have time; it doesn’t need to be done and dusted right now. Honestly, the first thing I would suggest is getting work experience at a vet’s - that’s what I did and it showed me that it actually wasn’t the right career for me at all. Then afterwards you can start thinking a bit more about subjects. Maths is a part of A-Level chemistry but it’s generally basic... As long as you’re not going to assume you can’t do it before you try (which is what a lot of people in my class did) then you should be fine. I started chemistry 6 months late hence did find it extremely challenging with the amount of content - but biology definitely had more! There’s nothing wrong with taking lots of A-Levels at the start of the year to find what truly suits you best; I do however don’t think it’s a good idea to take a subject that’s going to make you miserable for two years. ☹️ Keep calm & I hope this helps 💗

Just a Diamond thank you! Yeah I did work experience at a vets and I really enjoyed it. It’s just the thought of doing chemistry that puts me off and I’m so torn.

@@r0byncw I'm in year 12 and I'm doing Chemistry. I would say don't listen to all the fear mongering about it being hard. Yea it is hard, I can't sugar coat that part, but if you work hard you'll be able to do well. I struggle with it, mainly the Organic cus there's so much to bloody remember for organic, but when I go home and revise and learn it it's fine most of the time. Just to put it into perspective, when I didn't revise and did a test I got a C, but when I've revised for the last 2 mocks I've gotten As, cus I put the work in. In terms of Maths it's not that bad, it's mostly just remembering equations and looking at the ratios in the balanced equation. But I can't speak for any of the year 13 content yet. So yeah if you want to become a vet do it, but don't give up on your musical passion; even if you do become a vet you can still do music in your spare time and you might end up eventually doing that as a career. Margaret Thatcher (like her or not) studied Chemistry and was a food scientist before she became PM. I still don't even know what to do as a career or what to do at uni, but I'm passionate about films/TV/gaming and my dream is to make films, so no matter what I do as a job I will always aim for that. Sorry for the long comment. I hope this helped.

Hey so I take biology chem and psych. I wanna do medicine but I’m still not sure about it. Vet and medicine requires chem which is a bummer. I got a 6 in maths so I get what you’re feeling but in a way the maths you use in chem is just multiplying dividing adding and subtracting really. You’ll be able to do it. Always have a back up. I hope your first choice of going into broadway musical comes true. Keep working hard and persevere !!!! X

im doing bio and psychology too! and also thinking about that chem urghhh, but am going for it. tbh yes it is hard but think about how it will help in the future! you can easily push through these 2 hard years and have the future planned out so well for yourself

I'm 19 and just finished my first year at uni in "Sound and Live Event Production". I've decided this is not really what I want to do and I always wanted to either be a vet or in some sort of medical sector (so it was a bit of a different career path😅). At GCSE, I got As in pretty much everything so I initially took Chemistry, Biology, History and Btec Music at A level. I ended up dropping chemistry tho as I struggled so much, mainly getting Ds and Es. But at the time I had no motivation and didnt bother learning stuff properly. I ended up with 2 Cs in the other 2 A-levels so I've decided to go and re-take Biology and Chemistry again but as an online course. I'd really appreciate some tips if anyones experienced a similar situation or has any suggestions towards this?
