A cruise master of ceremonies simply said "Please turn to your neighbor and point to the stage". It really worked well to quiet the audience and direct their attention to the performance without offending anyone. It seemed to have impact because the directive came from the person sitting next to you.

Hey love your videos!!! I have a problem when I am trying to co host. Whe ever I get the mic at a kareoke, or at a comedy club my mind is blank. I dont know what to talk about to get the bzll rolling. Pleaze help!

I used to do that too. I think having a specific list of things you want to say helps. Funny saying, very quick comment or joke. If you have those already planned you can glance at the list just before you go back on. Even great comedians who you think are just improvising are often following a planned list Also remember that you are LINKING. So make a comment on the song that someone just sang , "oh that takes me back to ..." You might want to watch the Video about Stage Fright as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/epO1pGp-nM11nc0

Thank you for the wonderful video. I agree with Mr. Hyde - calming down the audience by standing in front and saying nothing. It really did work and I find people being quiet. But after the audience got accustomed to me standing there without saying anything I added saying "Thank you" , like they do in Wimbledon to calm people down just before the server tries to send the ball in. and also it worked nicely.

This won't work if you're not a singer, but "The National Anthem" does it Every. Single. Time.
