Thanks for the information! I’m a film student myself, and most of the people around me are very interested in camera work. It’s kinda feel alone sometimes to like Sound~. I’m in a middle of a phase where I need to make decisions for my path, to go for Location sound mixer/boom op ( Because it’s easier to find jobs as I’m based in Thailand ) or put up with it a little bit so I can get a full time job in sound post studio ( Which is more fitting to my lifestyle, being on set 14-16 hrs a day is like hell for me ). Again, Thanks for the video. Your advice really helped me to understand more about this process of researching and focusing on the right thing.

Happy to help! I agree, I started off working on set, but eventually decided that I wanted to work in a studio instead with more regular work hours. Hope it works out!

I really love the Make a Career Goal cause that really helps me focus on what I want to do as well ask the hard question the type of job, pay, etc. I like that apporach cause I just jumping into a rabbit hole and be overloaded with information of all different types. This give me clear guidance and I appericate that very much! Keep up the fantastic work!

Thankyou so much man. This is exactly what I’ve been searching for. Never knew where to start and I’ve been into music my whole life, been making music since I was 11 and recently the past few years I’ve really gotten into sound design and want a career dealing with that but never knew where to start. Now I do. Thankyou!

Hey Michael, Great video with loads of valuable knowledge and insight. I took lots of notes! I can personally vouch that having a strong presence on LinkedIn, having a solid website/portfolio and sending out emails on the daily will get you jobs (in TV, film and corporate anyway). However, there's always room for improvement and getting a consistent flow of work (especially as a freelancer) is an ongoing challenge. The website recommendations are greatly appreciated and I will definitely be working on my reels today. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. All the best! - Stefan

I have my own music team and audio team for films, tv, games, etc. and I find it's very useful to spread the word on various websites like Casting Call Club, Twitter, KZbin, Upwork you name it. But what about the sound library? A NAS is super useful for working with a team.

Do you have something similar for the other industries that include sound/audio? For example, Radio, Live Events, Churches, Studios, etc.
@FilmSoundTutorials10 ай бұрын
I haven't really worked in those industries, so no? But I would assume some of the tips in this video would also apply?

Hi, thank you so much for this informative video. Do you think Indonesia have a great sound company whether it's for film or game?
@FilmSoundTutorials2 жыл бұрын
I don't know too much about the audio industry in Indonesia to be honest. But after doing a quick Google Maps search, I found some post film sound studios in Jakarta: FourMix, Synchronize Sound, SoundHouse. For game studios, I'm seeing Garuda Games, Agate Studio, Toge, and Touchten Games. Hope that helps!

I'm kinda new to this job but I am working solo on two low budget features in audio post atm. I know the basic stuff and I hope I know enough to work with this. (All self taught no school) But I'm working in Audition since I can't afford Pro Tools yet. But I was wondering (If you've used audition bf) Can I set a similar workflow In Audition according to Pro Tools? Routing, submasters, printmasters, 5.1 subs all that stuff?
@FilmSoundTutorials2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Audition does support multi-tracks and sends, so it would probably work. But, if you're going to work in post film audio in the long term, I would recommend investing in Pro Tools. Because at some point you'll need to collaborate with other audio professionals, and that's easier to do when you're using the same DAW. The cheapest version is currently on sale for $75 a year, so hopefully your current film work would help pay for that. Hope that helps!

@@FilmSoundTutorials Thanks for the reply! Yes I'm aware of and I want to invest in Pro Tools I've been researching alot about it. As of now the savings I make of the work I do will buy me some gear for sound on set since here in sweden as a young filmworker it's easier to get jobs in that field. I wanna do both on location and post work in audio. But til then I hope Audition will do for now. The features are planned for streaming and theaters so it's nice to know I can achieve that quality in Audition

This is a great video, but I think a tad nerve-wracking.. you shouldn't worry so much about applying for a job. Just learn how to be persistent and improve every time you send an application. Patience is key, not getting it right the first time.

Yep, you're right. I just wanted to make a video to answer the common questions I get from beginning sound designers. Thanks for watching!
