Great video. Certs to be honest do not matter much, not even OSCP. In Australia, 1 year of experience in cybersec is much more important than CISSP OSCP CREST GIAC combined - coz in the real world, things do not operate in the way structured by how the certs would test your knowledge. The certs teach you what the job is, but it wont teach you how to do the job. Side projects are very important, no doubt.

Blogs is something I haven't really considered much. But as someone who is currently studying C#, aint much I can Blog about. But I understand something what I've learned that is Cyber Security related is actually quite smart. I know for a fact once I've gained some C#, Python, Powershell and Javascript experience, I can start on small projects and work my way up to larger ones.

Where should I take an online course for cyber security? Do you recommend any cheap but also completely certified colleges or something?
@AzureMaou Жыл бұрын
online courses are everywhere. I peresonally like the ones from TCM if you can pay or have some money to spend. Otherwise they have some offering on youtube. If you do not already have knowledge on the fundamentals of Networking please take looks at those courses. GL with your endeavors!

Would going into other fields such as networking etc. as an entry-job then going to a CyberSec job if you have build your IT career a good choice? (Because a lot of Security jobs require at least years of experience on IT) If so what's the difference between difficulty as such would there be compared to going into Entry-Level CyberSec?
@collinsinfosec2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I think previous experience in I.T. or networking will help you get into cybersecurity.
@cameronkirkwood25492 жыл бұрын
I jumped into Cyber security with no prior experience in IT besides general knowledge and I'm nearly finished with my first year of my university degree after doing an entry level course for 6 months before applying for university. I totally recommend jumping straight into Cyber Security rather than getting into another related IT field first as it'll save you time, reason being is that pretty much everything I've been taught for the past year has been a variety of different things that other fields already cover. Such as networking, programming, computer architecture just to name a few. We pretty much get taught a lot of the fundamental stuff and the rest of it is stuff you'll learn over the 4 years of your degree through personal study, work experience or certifications. While it's going to be a lot to learn the reality of this field is that we're always going to be learning, even after you get a degree and whatever certifications you need to get a particular job. I can't speak for everywhere in the work but at least here in the UK (Specifically Scotland) there's plenty of graduate jobs for Cyber security students to take up after they complete their BSc which gives a lot of us the chance to get some invaluable experience in the field if you're not able to land a work experience job during summer break.

None of these will put u to be a front runner candidate over someone who has “experience” u might get an interview max. The industry doesn’t value initiative, blogs, certs, projects . Experience only. Jkir

I owe everything for my current job due to my projects and website. That's what got me the interview and that's what put my through each round even when I was lackluster in answering the technical questions.

Hlo sir big fan 1) How much a cybersecurity can earn per month? 2) i strongly believe that no technology is unhackable how much time takes to hack a Android completely?? 3) I think in future hackers have more demand what is your opinion it is not onion? 4) who is Dave he is very nice from now will he come regularly in videos??
@collinsinfosec2 жыл бұрын
Hello 1) It depends on numerous factors. You can search for the average salaries based on your region. 2) I don't really understand exactly what you are asking. I do believe any technology is hackable to some extent. 3) I think there is a big depend for ethical hackers. But industry is going to look for qualified candidates who can bring the expertise, skill, and attitude for real changes on the business side. At the end of the day, a business cares about reducing risk. 4) Day is a cybersecurity student and professional. He was someone I brought onto the channel for just this video.
