Woah!! 7:35 isnt just *any* workplace! Thats The Astuter Computer Revue, a day one show! It was only open for 2 years (1984-86), had a Sherman Bro's song, and walked guest thru the wonder of computers and how they power all of Epcot's ride systems. The host and the Epcot diorama appeared atop the computers via pepper's ghost. It was repaced with another, more "informative" show that stuck around till 1993, but its still insane that they just sealed all of that off. Shout out to the Hersheypark pin! Its rare I see my home park on the bigger channels. Love the video!
@aaronsarchive822 күн бұрын
I was psyched when I saw this. That's the original room that powered the entire park!!! The model was used for the show. Btw "Backstage Magic" was the show that replaced Astuter.

@aaronsarchive82 I know right lol. I legit gasped when I realized where Backstage was filming. Gosh, the amount of stuff Disney just walled off; stuff we dont even know still exists... "...Thats why Im a rooter, for me computer! Everyone needs a friend!!" I just love that song so much!!
@sineadsdolls-drawings3 күн бұрын
Oh this was fun! Adults need to grow up, we all know how this stuff works and lets face it, these guys know there is an audience of intrigue for the back stage stuff. Its a shame "official documentaries" don't cover this sort of backstage stuff. Its gold
@Bungletronics3 күн бұрын
I saw that stuff as a young person in marching band 7-8th grade at Disneyland. We marched in one of the parades and to get there and back you’re backstage. Backstage is the polar opposite of on stage. It’s messy, crap everywhere with little organization. There are dumpsters and warehouses etc… I get why they don’t want people to film it but it doesn’t ruin everything the way they make it out.

Kenny!!! This is so good! As someone who was utterly immersed with Disney vloggers good and bad around 2016 onwards I love how involved in the lore you are! It's like you're piecing a puzzle together. It definitely feels like those days of Disney vloggers are behind us. It's very sanitized and monitized now. This video made me feel like I did back then. I love your videos as is, but also whole encourage you continue with this kind of historian stuff if you want to!

The DSoD Book & documentary were both so well done (even if the doc was nothing as I expected) that it was the last remnant of old UrbEX that MesaVerdeTimes really kicked off. I wish there was still more of that style content on KZbin or even Vimeo. I still hate my interview didn’t make the cut for the DSoD Documentary that was funded on Indiegogo(?) but still had a great time with Dave & those dudes (though I never got to meet you Leonard!).

I'd love to see you finish up what you have of footage that you shot for that original series though - I found the one that you'd originally posted very interesting, especially as someone who was invested in a lot of those content creators already. I will say, I miss RobPlays/MidwayToMainStreet's content, from the ones that were featured in your original documentary. His stuff was always so educational and well researched and well edited, and he just seemed like a really chill guy.

if anything, and i know this may sound wacky, i genuinely believe SOME of these items are better off being lifted and sold off to collectors (condition and longevity wise) considering disney's repeated disregard for conserving a lot of their props and memorabilia. i've got items that have kept better in my grandmothers house for fourty years than some of these memorabilia pieces have in a warehouse or museum falling the literal pieces. However, that DOES NOT make it okay to do at the end of the day, and this guys disregard for the care of the items is pretty blatant as well. tossing on the wigs and dresses. ridiculous and tonedeaf. good video, really enjoyed

I would pay money to listen to the Matt Sonswa interview! Please make the rest of your documentary! * When I became a DCP kid in 2013 working custodial in MK, I realized the utilidoors and all the backstage things were just normal workplace areas- also that they were seriously under maintained. I purposely asked to be custodial so that I had free rein to explore wherever I wanted on the clock. Being placed in MK was a dream come true. However, most backstage places were REALLY trash. I even had to sign waivers agreeing that I wouldn’t sue Disney in the instance I contracted asbestos from my regular CDS station! * BUT Matt’s videos go places I could never get to as a rule-following CP. AND they are the exact places I WISH I could have seen. Matt’s videos bring me true Disney magic.

The BackDoorDisney types and other “UrbEx” types of people are what started me on Disney KZbin. I missed the real first wave but came in right at the end of this period, right as AdamTheWoo was cleaning up his act to get back in the good graces and media lists. I enjoy the sanitized stuff PLENTY but you can’t deny there was a real draw to the spooky behind the scenes stuff. I just wish Disney would show off some of the things they have, even in their sanitized way, to almost scratch the same itch. I feel like a couple of their first Disney+ shows almost did it, but not in a cool or deep way and they killed all of it lol

If I had money I’d invest in seeing this doc through. I think it is an awesome topic and a great subject for a documentary. I heard of Dark Side of Disney several years ago and I meant to buy the book. I will now. I think it represents me fairly well. I’m a Disney parks fan who grew up going to Disneyland since it is 90 min away. I had my first bite of freedom there. My folks would let me bring a friend and we were in our own until meal times. I went to grad nite at Disneyland. I honeymooned at WDW. And now I go solo. No one there treats me oddly for being there as a single dude. I’m not a “Disney adult” while I enjoyed the movies as a kid, I’m not obsessed with IP. I love the escape of the parks. So anyway, I digress, but this doc need to see the light of day! If I can help in anyway I’d love to. I’m broke and have limited audio engineering and video editing skills.

I wish I could find the video of these people who snuck into the Haunted Mansion in WDW after hours. Three people, a man and a woman, and another man who was filming. In the video they do some pretty dangerous stuff. They go on the roof that's the facade of the mansion. They go into the hanging man room. They were wandering around the hallway with the doors and going below the omnimover track. I think I recall them seeing if the front door to the mansion opens up. On one hand, I appreciate this kind of stuff because my dad worked in Maintenance at WDW for over 15 years (before moving onto UO tech services). But on the other, I recognize what they're doing is violating Disney's private property rights. One would think Disney would recognize the demand for this type of behind-the-scenes content and would release it forst to undercut the vloggers.
