Man that is a lot of work. Here's what I did. 1. Build campfire under base. 2. Feed bees until honey is dripping from nest then harvest honeycomb with shears. 3. Build hive and place where you want it. Plant several flowers around it. 4. Holding flowers lead bees to your new hive. Lead them to and fro until you hear them pop in your new hive. All done. Pro Tip: Place the hive near your farm and remove the flowers by the hive. Put the flowers on the opposite side of your farm so they have to fly across your farm to get to them. Now they pollinate your farm which helps it grow faster. Yours is a sure fire method though of getting every bee. I actually let the original nest stay to keep breeding bees.
@annonomis92994 жыл бұрын
Joseph Matthews if all bees at natural nest die/taken away, will more spawn?
@josephmatthews76984 жыл бұрын
@@annonomis9299 Not that I noticed no. Once dead they're toast but you can take a couple bees from one of your hives and breed them with flowers to repopulate. Just lead them there the same way you led them to your hives. This is especially useful if you're stupid like me and forgot to put a campfire under your new hive before you collected the honey and they all sting you and die. Just go back to the nest breed some more and lead them back to the hive.
@bloodcatstudios64264 жыл бұрын
Do I have to put a campfire under the new hive (the man made box one)
@josephmatthews76984 жыл бұрын
@@bloodcatstudios6426 yep. Otherwise they still attack. I actually build a pretty big 10x10 farm. Big but manageable. Put 2-4 hives right in the middle of the farm slightly off the ground. Put campfires under them. Plant flowers around the farm so no matter what they have to fly over your crops to get back to the nest. I'm sure there is a more efficient method out there and more than once I've whacked a bee harvesting and replanting my farm sending them all after me but it works pretty well. Just run like hell if that happens. They give up Chase and go back to being docile after a certain distance. Just sucks because any bee that stung you is now dead but they are fairly easy to breed. If it's a big enough problem do what this guy did and build a greenhouse to keep them trapped.
@josephmatthews76984 жыл бұрын
One more efficient way I've been toying with to make the bees fly the entirety of your farm is building a farm near a big lake or in a giant glass tower with a hive at the top and flowers at the bottom and an automated farm in the middle. So the bees have only one way to fly to get to their nest. Having the nest in the middle of the farm though takes about five-ten minutes to get a pretty big and pretty productive farm going. Just remember to bring some flowers Everytime you harvest because the more bees you have the more efficient it's going to be. For a single player game it's gonna produce more than you need I'm sure. Especially if farming isn't your favorite aspect of minecraft it'll work just fine and give you enough wheat to breed enough cows to get Max level enchantments and back out exploring.

If you cant find wild bees, you can place an oak or birch sapling surrounded by four of the same flower, (and bonemeal it or let it grow naturally) and theres a chance that it will grow with a beehive on it, I got 3 bee hives now but have to move one Also: you can put campfires out with shovels and relight them with flint and steel!

Last night ( Java 1.17.1 ) I was moving mine about 9000 blocks so I used the nether train track that I had already made for commuting between towns. The one thing I noticed is that leading bees with a flower in your hand, while you are walking down a train track, they try to path straight down the track.. it's fairly swift, and kind of adorable. .. the flappiest stripiest little train in the world. They can't path back home if you have gone through a nether portal... but if they can't find flowers and they think they are underground they will head for the ceiling.. so make sure that the other side of that nether portal has a roof or you will need to either abandon them or.. I dunno, pole up to the ceiling until you are in range of them to lead them back down again :) I feel no need to glaze my bees in once I have an established population of them I can always breed more should any get terminated by random mobs or terrain. I tend to recess my campfires into the ground and pop either a trapdoor or carpet square on top. That's mainly because I like being able to see the smoke. When using hives, bees can enter the hive from any side (including top and bottom) but they can only get back out if the "front" hole is unobscured, so just be mindful in how you place them so that the lil bee door is free, or they will stop coming out.

Wanna make a bee roller coaster? Place a nest, spawn some bees, equip a crossbow and arrows, make sure you have powered rails that lead up or down (bees seem to slow down at those levels), and lastly, get on the Minecart and shoot one of them. Afterwards, dip and you’ll see a fun experience. Make sure the tracks are long enough though cause they’ll be peeved and coming for revenge! Or, if you want to see a pillager or skeleton get chased down, for a pillager try to spawn a villager and have him miss and hit a bee. Meanwhile he’s on the minecart, try to push him quickly towards the direction with powered tracks and you’ll see a pillager getting stung. For a skeleton it’s the same process just using yourself as bait. For the train tracks, you can use curves, but be smart to juke them or they’ll get ya! You can also try this with wolves, except only with a straight direction cause apparently they slow down with hills, and they have to have fast potion!

Only if you build after you tie down the bees like I did. The fix for that is tie the bees down nearby and build the enclosure then drag the bees in with the leads.
@deepblueyonderspage2 жыл бұрын
Easier way.. silk touch your nests, put them into an enclosure. Breed up the bees until there are too many to fit into the nests (bees go in at night, so wait until night and see who can't get into a nest). Throw down a hive in the middle of the bees and they will fly right into your hive. Silk touch the hive and take it where you need it. You can breed and repeat as many times as you like.

Sorry for the late reply. Apparently KZbin doesnt like to send me reply notifications anymore. The fireplace had to be directly below. Their cant be any spaces between it and the hive/nest.

I tried to do this with a natural spawning hive and I destroyed the hive they stung me then got set on fire and then I lost bees 🙁
@SweeneyDunston4 жыл бұрын
I didn't experience bees setting fire during the testing before recording the video. Mojang has either changed something or I don't understand the exact conditions you've encountered. If you had a campfire below the nest you should come out without harm.

i find it's a bit neater if i put the campfire in a hole in the ground and cover with a green carpet tile. Still lets the smoke through, stops the bees getting burned and blends in with the grass.

Thanks a lot for explaining bees and beehives! It's hard to locate any instructions related to build wooden beehives. You can only find most related to the nests - how to collect honey or bottles... I suffered with one bee and nest, now I have 22 beehives that allows me to play safely the Vault Hunters modpack. I discovered Minecraft because of this Modpack - the tasks are forcing me to build structures and farms like this one. Amazing stuff.

You can place the campfire in a hole in the ground and then put the beehive above it, that way it will cover the hole and you don't need to use any trapdoors.

The best tip is you can take ANY BEE, get it on a lead and tie it to post near your new bee hive and within 30 seconds or less that bee will automatically go in the nest and drop the lead!! Just tie it near your new nest, it will eventually go in and make its new home!!!

@@SweeneyDunston Maybe you could talk about getting several bees over to another location that's super far away. Currently I have a village that's a fair distance. I would almost have to set up little stations and breed the bee's in those stations and finally take them to the village. Lol. So, it would be great if you could make a tips video on how to transport them over long distances.
