Well, a tutorial for someone with a technic set is nice, but what about one for a builder like me who doesn't really have a technic set but rather has collected technic pieces from sets in other LEGO categories?

The improvement of a set is essential. It might take months to make a small progress, but it's worth of that effort. And yes, Sariel's masterpiece is more than helpful for lego players at any level.

I'm no professional, but I want to be. I love building with Lego, and I find great truth in your advice. Compared to my friends, I'm a genius, but they don't watch enough KZbin to know what they're missing. Love the advice, and can't wait to here more! Sharing with my friends right now!

Good tips all. Now it's just finding the TIME to build :)

One thing I've just started doing, with both Technic and non-Technic sets alike, is that I will download the instructions of a set I don't have, and pull apart only specific sets at a time to use its pieces to create the set I don't have, purposefully making sure I DON'T have all the right parts. This forces me to improvise using other parts to approximate the same wall/piece/function that I don't have. I find it shocking that many people don't build the B-models of their Technic (or Creator) sets: the building process is the best part!

Awesome video! Here's why I want the book: 1. I have thousands of parts and tens of sets and need to put them to use 2. Lately, I have had a lack of inspiration to build and the book will definitely provide some inspiration 3. I want to start scale modeling, and I know that Sariel must have put something about scale modeling in there 4. I want to imporve the quality of my builds with better techniques and more efficient mechanisms, which I struggle with. Thank you for your consideration, I hope I win. Cheers!

These are great steps and even just building a c-model helps a lot because you figure out how to work with limited peices. I’m currently working on building on RC IndyCar but I to order pieces and figure different techniques

Great vid, it is really helpful for people who started building with lego, I must say I really am 'stuck' on the step where you add motors, I am adding way to much motors
@wattenre6 жыл бұрын
Really nice tips. First of all, I try to add something and to motorize it. But sometimes I will build something completely new, what I have seen in real life. Than I start with the different functions the vehicle should have and in the end, I combine them.

I finished all the steps! I want to win this book because currently, I am in an FLL (first LEGO league) team. Being in a robotics team is very interesting, you get to build robot, understanding new things and getting to improved it. Engineering is my dream job and this book can help me a lot especially when I’m joining a high school robotics team next year. I takes engineering seriously and try to improve the things I can. Hope I can win this book. Good luck to everyone!

I am a bit late! Never mind. Your tips are spot on that is what I did and now create some amazing builds (including GBC!) I would also recommend building in Lego Digital Designer and Stud.io, most of my initial ideas start there as the basic prototype can be made digitally quickly and the clean up is a breeze! Once it is 70-80% there I build it physically the rest of the way.
