Great video and advice. I was told by a better player than me to look at the board from the oppents side of the table before the first turn. See what they see

Thanks. It was helpful. My only little problem is 'ask your opponent of they can move a unit and see your unit after they moved *and let them confirm that*'. I agree that you should answer any stat and ability questions about your units. But you should not have your opponent mentally simulate a turn and guess if your opponent could or could not see a unit. If your opponent is slightly wrong it can bring up crazy stuff like "yeah you have line of sight now, but you said they couldn't see them, so you gave me false information. I wouldn't have placed the unit there if you told me correctly." That is not right, it is your responsebility to hide your units. Not your opponent's. This question forces your opponent in a conflict of interest. So yes, state your intention to hide, ask your opponent if they can see the unit now with one of theirs is fine. Let them proclaim if they can after movement is too much.

No problem, I am glad it was helpful :) Thanks for the comment I think this is a great issue to discuss. I understand your concerns but I feel it's a very common thing to move a unit and state something like "it's my intent to not be visible by x and y after you move. I can't be seen if I go here and you then move, are you in agreement?" We are allowed to pre measure in our games so it is totally possibly to measure a point and check ahead of moving any models. No need for anything more elaborate or time consuming just a quick check. I have never had an issue with opponents on this with either party asking that or as a TO this becoming a thing with players. I can however totally see how it can cause an issue if someone agreed something and then changed their mind. If player A asks will i be visible and player B says no. Then when they move models player B realises they are in fact visible. At this point it could be tricky but I would expect both players to resolve things amicably. In a lot of situations it is likely that a slight adjustment to properly be behind a wall will fix it with no impact to the game, for example. If things are more complex and player B is taking the line of tough luck i know we agreed but the reality is you are visible. Well then at that point Player B is taking advantage and angle shooting. If they have agreed with the opponent that there is no visibility and now realise it is different, to stitch them up knowingly is foul play. I do agree you shouldn't just dump stuff on your opponent to work out for you. Lazily asking things is a bit much but that is not what I am advocating. What i am suggesting is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with a clear conversation about intent, checking yourself ahead of your movement, and then confirming from your opponent what visibility and measurements will be before you commit. The fact that we can pre-measure makes this really easy to do in game and confirming the same understanding on these points helps with a smoother and more pleasant game.

Great advice! Probably too obvious to mention but the point on infiltrators and specifically information is key. Understand your units information priority to your opponent; if you have multiples of the same unit each of these is less impactful to the opponent, so deploying one doesn't provide as much information. The opposite is also true, if all of your anti-tank is tied up in one prestige unit, the vehicle heavy opponent is going to be very interested in where it goes - deploy it last!

Thanks! Totally agree - resist the temptation to set important units up first. I think it comes with experience but you're right - predicting what the opponent might be worried about and saving that to the end is a great nugget. Can't hide from that nasty anti-tank if you don't know where it's going to be!

These videos are helpful, but could really use some specifics. I know it adds loads to the prep for a video, but I think these will be so much better with photos & stills showing examples. Looking forward to more and better. :)

@incursionevents good stuff. Oh the video was spot on as well, the only other factor I would take into account specifically for 10th is being hyper aware of your opponents redeploy abilities. With how powerful they are, I feel they need their own mention when thinking about your opponents strengths and weaknesses.

A plan is so important. A thing I see as a TO is people will tilt when playing a tough list before a dice is rolled. Instead of thinking about how they will approach the game they lose faith or panic and then start making mistakes in deployment.
