For triceps I've found using cables and doing one arm at a time gets me far better contractions than anything else. The following is one arm at a time and take off any attachment, so it's just the carabiner and little plastic ball on the end of the cable (I grab around the plastic ball mostly). Example workout for tris: - Pushdown, 3 sets of 12 - overhead extension, 3 sets of 12 - kickbacks (bend over facing the cable machine, until your back is about horizontal probably), 3 sets of 15 Do them controlled and full range of motion, and squeeze your tricep hard at the end of each concentric for about a second.

I'm 55, getting back into it but my humerus bones ache for days after working out, even when using lighter weight. Any advice?
@solojohno13 жыл бұрын
I stay with really light weight and fewer sets/repetitions at first. First 1-2 weeks are terrible as we get older. But, don't stop. Go to the gym two days per week for those first two weeks (one leg day, one upper body day -- give each muscle group a week to recover), and when your body stops being so sore, you can increase weight and sets/reps. At least, that's what works for me. You'll probably still need more recovery time than when you were younger, but you should get to the point where you can lift harder and heavier pretty quickly, if you're otherwise healthy. When I get back into it, I can usually go 100% after 1 or 2 weeks of reminding my muscles that there's more for them to do than keeping me from tipping over in my chair.

After using iron for all of my life I picked up a resistance band at a buddies house. Although I'd previously dismissed them as a fad, I instantly realised they had massive potential. Bought a set the next day. I have to be honest, the buzz from a workout is off scale. The burn, the pump, gains are like WTF? I think it's the constant resistance, no swing, no momentum. Hands up I was 100% wrong about them, best workout and results I've ever had! Big bonus is that gyms were all locked up here, and although I'd welded up a pull up bar, these things allow me to go next level and do a complete workout.
