How to GET both REVERSING LIGHTS to work on a Transporter T6 | or do we blow up the VAN??

Just been reading some forums and was saying if you have a tailgate 1 reverse light and if you have barn doors you get 2, although it was a 2016 thread I was reading.

Hi I had the same problem find the wire that feeds the reverse light on the off side tap into it and run a wire to the other side. The hardest part is feeding the wire round, both my reverse lights work now and my camera in reverse gear. You don't need to touch your new ligths. (Barn door )

Hey🙌. Thanks buddy. Since posting I’ve come to find the internal leds on the other reverse light are actually removed internally so I can’t do it on these. That’s not good say I have rested the subject 😉👍

Steve. I had the same problem before discovering that what I thought was the rear offside reversing light that wasn’t working, was in fact a fog light, despite having a white lens and white bulb. Switch your rear fogs on and see what happens😉

Yes your spot on. I have since upgraded the lights again now to the 6.1 from Travelin lite and now have to Very bright reverse lights 🙏😎. I have done a video on them If your interested 👍

@@bobthebuilder3173 Almost right. The mirror opposite is not the fog lamp. It does not even have any LED’s within it and due to it it’s just a blank and being a sealed unit that is where the plans ground to a halt. The rear fog lamp is just below it. However I do now have two rear fog lights as well so I’m pretty happy about that and get my fairy tail ending 😊

Hi Steve, I hope you are well?... Thank you for your videos, I enjoy watching them and I love your van... I also have the Transporter HQ v2 front headlights because I also like the OEM look. My van being a Trendline had the halogen front and rear lights as it didn't have the LED option from new so you don't get the LED rear lights that have the twin fog and reverse... I have looked into options for the rear lights of my van as I want them LED but want to stay away from after market ones. Do you know of HazzyDayz in St.Albans? Or Advanced in-car Technologys in Poole? Both companies can retro fit genuine VW rear light clusters and wire the twin fog and reverse to work by changing the plug. As far as I know you can replace the reverse bulb for LED on both sides and it's really bright. Also, they can wire in the new 6.1 rear light clusters as well but that takes longer and requires coding. Hope this helps... Take care...

Only way I can see of getting the second reversing light is to get a left hand drive unit. I did that on my vivaro.

I did think about this but think I move the problem onto a fog light then as they only have one of those too.

@Steve Field of course mine was reversing and fog on off side and near side was just reversing separate from main light cluster.

Hi Steve, this reminds me of my youth, where i have installed a second fog light to my Jetta1 and bridged all to the brakelights so i had double brakelights on each side....was illegal but looked great 😜 but it was much easier to do. Perhaps the right sie of the left hand drive version is the solution, maybe a bit expensive to buy that second pair.....

Hi Jens, oh yes those were the days! Cars before multiplex wiring 💪🙌. I did think about the LHD option but trouble with that is the fog light then becomes the issues as that then would disappear completely.

This is coincidence that I was fitting a reverse camera to my van from the new head unit ive recently installed. And if you watch my latest video you'll see i failed big time and blown the ignition module. In garage at moment. So sad van will not start. Been told never mess with the electric's and I've learnt the hard way

Have you thought about if a left hand drive vehicles reverse light is opposite to a right hand drive? Could be as simple as that if there is current from a reverse feed to both rear looms
