Nice! Could you just add the gelatine after fermentation before you keg the beer?

Yes, but that would mean you have to open it and let air in. I haven’t tried to add it with the yeast. Maybe it will work 😊 I think it might pull out some of the yeast, though. But I’m not sure. I haven’t tried it

@Beerstories wow so you added after the boil cooled before fermentation was it clear before you kegged? My goal is to keg clear beer.

No sorry, I thought this about glycerine 😉 I read it wrong. I was also talking to a oerson about that, so I mixed it up… I haven’t tried to play around with gelatine before the yeast pitch. But if you can add it to the fermenter without introducing oxygen, you should be fine. Just do it after fermentation and diacytel rest. Add it and then coldcrash 😊 That would be the best way, if you want to keg clear beer. You just have to set up your process so you won’t introduce any oxygen. Both when adding gelatine and when you’re coldcrashing (avoid suck back of o2).

Great video! may I ask, does the gelatin and water solution need to be cooled to yeast pitching temps or can it be added hot still? thank you/

I always let it cool to room temp before adding it, just to be safe 😊

Is it important to dissolve gelatin in the exact amount of water? What are the proportions?

I’ll have the nerve to note that 50 ml of water per 5-7 grams of gelatine is enough. Make paranoidal safe to microwave it up to 80-85C if you use an open vessel like the glass ;)

@vlagavulvin3847 you’re probably right about that 😊 There are several methods to the same result. I have tried them all and I just think this is the easiest 😊 I know most people use microwave 😊
