This is so true! It’s more about a persons energy. You can clearly smell a lot of perfumes around people but if they have the non inviting or intimidating energy you probably won’t compliment them on the fragrance. It’s a good exercise though to go against that “fear” and say it anyway, it will boost your own confidence and the other person. Win win 🥳

This advice is spot on. Works very well for men. I do this all the time. People think I get approached a lot because I am handsome. I'm not that handsome. The truth is from a rating of 1-10 I'm a 6, but I do exactly what you say in this video. My strategy for meeting people in general is to not attract, but magnetize people. To be honest, standing still as possible, but not look rigid, by smiling and enjoying the environment, making eye contact and smiling at a person is an approach just with out words. It's like literally telling a person I'm approachable. Moreover, this a good life tip in general beyond getting compliments from fragrances. Please don't take this as boasting, just want to share my experience and prove Melissa's point. I do this strategy at trade shows as well. Once you get approached, more and more people approach. I agree with Melissa on having good conversation and knowing how to connect with people is of the essence. I've even got a job at department store waiting for my turn to smell a Creed fragrance, doing just that. "Hey I met you before. Would you like to work for us. I know you're a salesperson and someone just quit. We have a position open." The point of this message is to let people know the possibilities that are really there for you. Hope this helps.

Scent layering is my secret (not really secret) tip. I get scents from Bath and Body works or Walmart that have the same notes as my perfumes, I use the shower gel and lotion that goes well with my perfumes.

Facts you gotta look approachable

You’re absolutely right, Melissa! If you come off as approachable, people will do the small talk (as I always do) and more than likely compliment you. I probably come off as “busy”, maybe that’s why people don’t approach? But when I’m just cruising and just window shopping by myself - even in the drive thru- I’ve had compliments. In all honesty though, I’ve never had a compliment on any of my niche fragrances except for BR540 extrait. Also, in my experience it’s the people around your age (my daughters ages 20-27) who will compliment me. Older people don’t.

Men may not seem to care and shrug them off or change topic quick, but you will make their year with tiniest of compliments as these are rare.

I barely ever get compliments!!! And I’m a fragrance head. Even when I wear Hacivat…I think it’s because it’s so hot and humid here in Houston, TX. My fragrances probably evaporate as soon as I step outside. My most recent complaint was when I was walking through a restaurant and was wearing Angel Shares, a lady came up about 5 mins after sitting down and asked what I was wearing…I was SO FLATTERED 🥰 as Kilian would say, I wear fragrances as a weapon of seduction. But most of the time people can’t smell me…or maybe it’s the way I dress. I always dress in suits and sport coats and always aim to be the sharpest and best smelling best you’ve ever seen and smelled in your life.

Put a little Vaseline or an oil on the areas you’re going to spray first, then spray your fragrance on. That’ll help lock it in your skin better.

It is weird to compliment another random person on a fragrance, except it is someones who is attracted to you anyway. That's why you don't get much compliments and it is nothing to worry about. The girl in the video gets the compliments, because she is a good looking girl. So easy

In these times when everything you say might be considered inapropiated or offensive is hard to get and to give compliments. But people still gives you compliments without words with their attitude towards you. By the way, my mom's compliments doesn´t count, right? ❤

Anyone got tips on improving conversation skills? Conversation skills are limited with the ladies. Get nervous. At least the scent is sorted. Thanks Melissa 👍🏻
