Hi Mam, Thanks for the quick and informative video. I have 2 doubts. 1. I have 3 years of driving experince in India. So, bringing only Driving License will help us (as you told) or will there be any advantage if we bring the Driving License Extract as well? Because in Ontario and all, they ask for DL Extract stamped from Indian Govt. 2. Even if we have experience in India, should we give our road test there? Or will 5R be provided directly after Written test?

Hey, 1. So as per my knowledge about Halifax, they just need a normal regular license. Make sure its original, scanned copy won’t work. 2. So, yes if you have experience, you can come and give written test, after you pass that, you show your original license from your home country, you will be given 5R. Then you have to give road test when you are ready and you will get full 5 after you pass road test! Hope that helps! :)

Hi, I have my Indian licence but I don't have enough driving experience or I can say zero experience. So, after giving the knowledge test (learner's licence), I will get the class7 licence. Then I can join some driving institute and gain the driving experience on Canada roads and finally after passing road test, will be eligible for Class 5N licence. With this class 5N, would I be able to buy a car and is there any restriction to take the family in the car? Thanks.

Thank you for your video it was really informative. I do one little have doubt. I have 3 years of driving experience in India so as you said after giving my written test if i give them my Indian driving license they will provide me a 5R driver’s license. But after I get my 5R is there a deadline as to when i can give my road test for class 5 full driver’s license? Can I postpone it indefinitely? I am a student so I am not sure when I will be free to take the road test.

Hey, thanks for watching! Very good question! Yes, you can do that, the 5R is valid for 5 years, I believe that’s enough time for you to take the road test. 5R can also be renewed. Also, don’t forget to carry the Indian license with you so you can show it after the written test! :) Good luck!
