Hi bhaiya, Some Questions again : 1) Does the mtech degree college name matters i.e like a person doing masters from IIT will be more preferred than NITS/IIITS. 2) Gap between masters and PhD matters or not ?

1. Yes, in mtech brand of the college matters. 2. No gap doesn't matter between mtech and phd. There are students who do some jobs after mtech and then join PhD.

What is the gate score required to be selected for written test?

Don't know exactly, it depends year to year, iits to iits. I haven't seen any cutoff released by any iits regarding this.

IISc releases PhD cutoff scores... U can find it in their website.. IITs don't release any such cutoff

No, If you join any IITs/IISc/Any affliated college as an institute scholar, you are eligible for fellowship.

Sir.. I have listened this that we should always select the guide which is doing research in the same area.. I want to know like what research do professor do?.. I mean like in iit does the professor do research on certain projects given by companies or they pick up some problems on their own... And also like if you take a new problem how can the professor help as that problem may be new for him also??

1. They work in both projects given by industry and some own problems. 2. Yes guide will tell u some idea to solve the problem..but it's new for him as well. So he might share his experience of other problems he had solved so that you might get some idea of the current problems. His experience will help you.

Hey I know I'm too late to comment but I have done bsc in computer science(9.3 cgpa) and currently pursuing msc in computer science and preparing for gate as well so what are the chances of me getting selected for IIT or IISC directly for phd? Do reply!🙏

You are never too late!! If you can crack gate with good score or rank, very likely with high probability you will get phd in some iits or iisc
