I understand what this Pastor was saying about forgetting the past and pressing onto what lies ahead. But he also said to lay the hurt down on the alter of God. In my way of thinking…there are wounds and trauma of the past that can only be healed by remembering-and giving it to God as we remember. Walking with God through those memories is different than secular psychology and all the therapy without an emphasis on the supernatural healing of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for sharing your perspective-it’s clear that you’ve spent time reflecting on this message and how it applies to real-life wounds and trauma. We appreciate the depth of thought you’ve brought to this discussion. 🙏 I think you’ve touched on something very powerful: the process of remembering and walking with God through those memories can indeed be a crucial part of healing. Bringing those wounds to the altar isn’t about forgetting or denying their existence, but rather surrendering them to the Lord so His supernatural healing can work in and through them. Pastor David's heart, I believe, was to emphasize the importance of surrender and trusting God with even the deepest hurts. But you’re absolutely right-walking with God through those memories, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is a sacred process and very different from secular approaches that don’t involve the transformative power of His presence. Thank you again for offering this insight-it’s such an important reminder of the nuance and grace needed when addressing these deep topics. ❤️

Pastor David is at the top of my list for solid Biblical teaching. He has helped me in my walk with Jesus so much through the years. And it has been such a huge blessing to have been able to see his own spiritual growth develop through those years too. His heart was always to bring people closer to the heart of God. Thank you for your reply.

I can testify personally about the power of forgiveness . I came from a 2 parent alcoholic, abusive home. I once hated my parent's and wanted nothing to do with them. I listened to a false preacher talking about just getting them out of my life forever. That was wrong. Love can overcome all thing's. There is hesling in forgiveness. Healing takes time yes, but the beauty of seeing my parent's accept jesus christ as savior was a fabulous blessing. People can change. i had to see them as Jesus did and realized they acted out what was done to them and that they were abused as children as well. End that generational abuse by forgivenes. Let love win.

Ok,I finally have listened to this message in its entirety. And because I made comments in another place- under the shorter clips- I wiĺl now say this. What I said there is what I say here- the same. I agree with much of what Pastor Wilkerson said except for the one point of one not praying against their enemy. I believe Paul shows us that we can in his words to Timothy. (1Tim 1:20 & 2 Tim 4:14. And "all scripture is inspired",no?) The difference-" fine line"- is in praying God's judgment and not our own, I believe. Not telling God what WE want God to DO. Letting the " vengeance be His". Therefore the " higher road" - as Jesus represented- would be to pray for mercy. And here now I agree with all the other things Pastor Wilkerson said. " Because I could,doesnt mean I should" ( 1 Cor 6:12, paraphrased). Its the better thing to do for the enemy- seeking for their salvation; and for oneself - keeping your heart clean. It is definitely not an easy thing but as someone reminded me, trust God with my heart. I must give all those emotions to Him.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to the full message and for sharing your reflections so thoughtfully. We appreciate how you’ve engaged deeply with Pastor Wilkerson’s points and brought in Scripture to explain your perspective! You’re absolutely right-there’s a fine line when it comes to praying about those who oppose us. Your emphasis on trusting God with judgment and praying for mercy aligns beautifully with Jesus’ teaching to love our enemies and seek their salvation. It’s a challenging call, but as you said, it keeps our hearts clean and aligned with God’s will. Also, appreciate how you highlight trusting God with your heart-it’s a powerful act of faith and a great reminder to seek His will in every situation. 🙏

How do you heal from trauma. There's hurt, but then there are some hurts that are life changing.
@Healitnow
@Healitnow Ай бұрын
Jesus never had to face this. He was dead hours after most of his trauma and abuse. One thing to remember. A person that offends Christians has two endings if they do not repent. One is to be called an unprofitable servant and to be cast into outer darkness instead of going to heaven. The second is depart from me, you worker of iniquity, I know you not. I do not know where these people end up. There is no point of taking vengeance when both of these punishments are eternal. You cannot equal that. God's punishments are more severe. God Bless.

@@HealitnowWhat are you talking about? Jesus was betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter. Look at everything closely, Jesus is God. He was the word made flesh, this means he was with the father in eternity past. The people who crucified him mocked him, spat on him cursed him and yet while he is nailed to that tree, he says “forgive them father for they know not what they do.” He walked as a man under the power of the Holy Spirit, he experienced emotions. It is said that he was traumatised at gethsemane. He was about to be slaughtered on that cross, after pouring his heart out, he finds his disciples asleep. Our Lord has faced all the trauma that one can ask for. So when you say Jesus never had to face this, you are incorrect my friend. Only one person came to thank him for healing and it was a gentile. It surprised our Lord. Read the gospels again and go and read psalm 22, that prophecy tells us about what he faced on that tree. He was rejected by his own people way before the cross. That is beyond painful, even the miracles were not enough to make them believe. Go and read Isaiah 53, it is the first gospel and the guilty conscience of the Jews. So much so that in synagogues they skip over it and refuse to read the text.

You forgive them and pray for their salvation. Go and read about the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18 (the parable). You have to realise that God has forgiven you for an endless list of evils committed against him. He forgave the greater offence, we forgive the lesser offence. It says in Matthew 6 that if you don’t forgive those who trespass against you, he will not forgive you for your trespasses. His mercy is not ours to possess, we are commanded to extend it on to those who have wronged us. Again, he forgave you for an endless list of evils committed against him. We have no idea how much we have offended him.

Healing from life-changing trauma is a deeply personal journey, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. Start by bringing your pain to God-He cares for you deeply and is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Surround yourself with people who can support and pray with you, and know it’s a sign of strength to seek professional help. A Christian counselor or trauma specialist can walk with you, offering tools and care to help you heal. God often uses both prayer and people to bring restoration, and He is with you every step of the way.

, that's a great question @PeterMacvichie While the biblical principle of not repaying evil with evil (Romans 12:17-21) is rooted in Christian teachings, its application can extend to interactions with people of all backgrounds. Regarding those who are unsaved and narcissistic, it's essential to recognize that their behavior is often a reflection of their inner struggles and lack of understanding of God's love. As for feeling angry when showing kindness to those who continually use and abuse you, it's natural to feel that way. However, the Bible encourages us to respond in a way that honors God, even when faced with difficult people (Matthew 5:38-42, Luke 6:27-36). Instead of anger, consider praying for those who mistreat you, (I'm assuming your are Christian, Peter) asking God to help you show them love and kindness despite their behavior (Matthew 5:44). Remember that you can't control how others behave, but you can control how you respond to them. May God give you wisdom and guidance as you navigate these challenging relationships. I will love to invite to tscnyc.churchcenter.com/groups/connect-groups/daily-prayer-praise I host every day on zoom at 6pm EST

Hi Peter! Thank you for your question. This sermon does not only apply to those in the Church that we don’t get along with, but it applies to our unsaved enemies. Regardless of their attitudes and actions towards us, we are to not desire revenge or retribution against them (Proverbs 24:17-18, Romans 12:14). To be angry is a very human response, and even Jesus Himself felt anger (Mark 3:1-6). However, it is very important that we do not sin while we are angry and that we give our anger to God (Ephesians 4:26, James 1:19-20). We are free to lay our anger, our hurt, our grief, our sadness, and circumstances at the feet of Jesus, and ask for the Holy Spirit’s strength to help us (2 Corinthians 4:8-10, 12:1-10). Without knowing the context of your circumstances, it may also be wise to seek the proper authorities if the abuse you experience is illegal. We relinquish taking revenge or desiring evil for our enemy to God (Romans 12:17-21). However, God is just (Psalm 11:7). We can reach out to the proper authorities, without desiring retribution, but to simply put a stop to evil.

Don't agree with all that he said in this message about forgetting past abuse.. that's easy to say when you have not been a victim and also very insensitive to survivors. Of course the power of the Holy Spirit can heal hurts but it's totally wrong to minimize sin of an adult abusing a child. It's a crime! .
@world_challenge
@world_challenge Ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and concerns about the message. We truly appreciate your honesty and the courage it takes to bring this up. We completely agree with you that abuse, especially against a child, is a serious crime and a grievous sin. It’s not something to be minimized or brushed aside, and addressing it with justice, compassion, and care is essential. Survivors carry deep wounds, and the journey toward healing can be long and complex. We believe the intent of the sermon was not to downplay the seriousness of abuse but to highlight the power of God to bring healing and restoration, even in the most painful circumstances. However, we can see how certain parts of the message may have come across as insensitive to the lived experiences of survivors. That’s certainly not the heart of the Gospel or Pastor David's intention. Thank you again for sharing your perspective-it’s an important reminder of the need to approach this topic with great care and understanding!

Darling I too was sexually assaulted by a 42 year old stranger at the age of 15. It really damaged me. I have learned to forgive the person but will never forgive the demons working through that man. I was able to forgive my dad for his verbal abuse due to bipolar 1 disorder, I forgave my children's dad about 5 years before he passed away from alcoholism, and abandonment due to that. My dad and my children's dad were under generational curses. After my children's dad and I ended things I met a narcissist 5 years later, was with him for 5 years which it 100% demonic. I handed that over to God because it was to big for me. I reflected and realized that that happened due to my not being healed from the rape, by my anger towards my dad and my children's dad, my poor decision making due to generational curse of bipolar 2 and after really finding Jesus in 2020, mentally Healing, soul wise I'm healed.... Forgive the person not the Demons We're in a spiritual war darling, we truly are
