"putting in the effort for a long time" So, so true. When I was in good shape people would ask "how did you get so fit? And they never liked the answer. "Consistent hard work over a number of years."

Hi Cam, I think your video series does give clue about how to shortcut the road to fitness...mix it up. A variety of workouts keeps it fun and exciting so, while it takes just as long to get there, it feels like a much shorter ride.

As a newcomer to the vlog and also a non rowing fitness trainer I haven't spotted you doing anything in the way of core work or stretching. Possibly these have been explored in a previous vid in which case please ignore my ignorance. The vids are extremely watchable and informative so keep up the good work!
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin! Welcome to the #yamsquad! I haven't really specifically talked about stretching or core for rowing. It might be time to! Usually my core exercises are at the end of my weights session and my stretching is before all my sessions though!

@@CameronBuchan Thanks Cameron. Fascinated with the incredible workload you guys get through. Really didn't think it was sustainable but obviously what do I know. Keep the vids coming.
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
One of my biggest issues is keeping it sustained! That's my biggest goal for this year. Not sure how many vlogs you have watched hear but we are currently in pre season with volume being quite a bit lower than in full training! Glad to have you here!

@@CameronBuchan Have binge watched a few but in no particular order. The work load must be intimidating. Not sure what motivation you are using?
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
I speak about motivation quite a lot! It's easy to be motivated when you love what you do, I think that's the biggest thing and obviously there are always goals whether it be the next test or next race!

Is steady state more important for dropping 2k?
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
There are so many variables that go into 2k times. Steady state is only one, it will help but there could be other things that could help more!

So I had started rowing last September, new to the sport and have seen my scores getting progressively better, but I’ve come home from uni for summer (just under 3 months) and tbh done v little intense exercise, is there a chance I will have lost all fitness in this space of time or will it be easier to get back up to standard, at a quicker rate? You may not know but worth a shot and loving these videos (really helpful) 👍
@78oatmeal5 жыл бұрын
Hi, you will have lost some but not all fitness 👍
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you will have lost a lot! But not to worry, consistent training like before will get you back to where you were faster this time around! I had three months off last year and was a far way back from where I stopped 😔

What's something I can do to get more power on each stroke? Any exercises/reps/explosive splits?
@CameronBuchan5 жыл бұрын
Depending on what you're weaknesses are it could be getting stronger in general using an exercise like squats to base that on!
@Brunomills5 жыл бұрын
@@CameronBuchan thanks for the reply. I just want to get lower split times at 20 s/m. I want to be under 1:50 splits for 2000m and 5000m

What helped me is doing lower rates (around 16-18) and putting a lot of power in each stroke,
@Brunomills5 жыл бұрын
@@bendtheoar839 I'll give that a try. I struggle with keeping at 18. I staybmostly 20.
