If you suddenly start washing your hair less often you’ll get a lot of sebum and oil buildup and it won’t knot up. It’s best to keep it clean at first and slowly start adding days between washes to keep the scalp healthy.

rule of thumb is whether or not ur curls are thicker than a pencil, if they’re tighter than that it’s curly enough for locs. If u gotta use a sponge it’s not freeform
