- Hi guys, I'm Maria from travelguidelisbon.com and today I'm going to talk about transportation from Lisbon airport to the city center or to your hotel. So, basically, what are your options and comparing their costs, the time it takes, frequency and convenience.
00:30-01:24
- The Lisbon Airport is very conveniently situated very close to the Lisbon city center, just seven kilometers away, and there are plenty of transportation options you could choose from. I have also prepared a comparison table on the website, travelguidelisbon.com under the transportation section. There you could see all the options and compare them quite easily and quickly. So basically those options are public transportation, that includes Metro, local buses or the Aerobus bus service between airport and city center. You could, of course, take taxi or Uber or shared and private transfers. And now I'm going to talk about each of those options, just to give you basic information so you can make your choice before you arrive in Lisbon.
01:25-02:54
- Option one, Aerobus. Aerobus is a bus service between Lisbon Airport and the city center. There are two lines, both of them are making a loop coming back to the airport and they stop at the main points of interest in Lisbon such as Rossio, Sete Rios, Praca do Comercio or Marques de Pombal. For more stops and stations, please check out our website. The Aerobus starts running at 7:30 a.m. and it runs every 20 minutes, after 7 p.m., every 25 minutes, and the last one is at 11 p.m. So, if your scheduled to land after 10 p.m. I would not recommend this option for you because you might miss the last bus. (…)
02:55-04:03
- Option 2. Local buses 744 and 783. These local buses connect Lisbon airport with Lisbon's most important stations such as Marques de Pombal or Entrecampos. For all the stops and the exact schedule on the map, please visit our website. These buses run every 15 to 30 minutes and the last one leaves at around midnight. The ride will take around 25 minutes to get to city center when not in rush hour. (…)
04:04-05:30
- Option three, metro. Lisbon Airport is located at the final station of the Red Metro line called Aeroporto. The metro runs every 6-9 minutes. They start running at 6:30 a.m. and run til 1 a.m. in the morning. It is a very easy, convenient and cheap way to travel. The ride takes around 30 minutes to city center to Baixa-Chiado or Rossio. (…)
05:31-06:05
- Option 4, Uber. Lisbon is very well-served with Uber services, and most of the drivers, they do speak English. At the airport, at Terminal One, you would have to wait for your Uber service at the Kiss and Fly area, which is, I guess, a nice way of saying drop-off area. The ride would take around 17 to 20 minutes to city center, and would cost around 15 to 20 euros, more or less.
06:06-07:01
- Option 5, Taxi. The taxi station is conveniently situated right outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 1. The taxi is very similar in price to the Uber, around 15 to 20 euros to city center and the time takes 17 to 20 minutes to city center. (…)
07:02-08:20
- Options 6 and 7, private and shared transfers. So if you are traveling in a group of more than two people, or with little kids, or you are after a long and exhausting flight or land too late, or you are carrying a considerable amount of luggage, then private transfer could be a perfect solution for you. This is the most convenient way, and also very reasonably priced in Lisbon. You can rent a vehicle from 23 euros and a driver will wait for you in the arrivals hall and obviously take you to your doorstep. (…)
08:21-09:20
- Option 8, the Lisbon Card. As you might know, the Lisbon Card is not only a museums and attraction pass in Lisbon, but it also fully includes public transportation within Lisbon. That includes the Metro or the local buses from the airport. (…)
09:21-09:56
- So these are the transportation options from the Lisbon Airport to the city center or to your hotel. It is worth a thought before you land in Lisbon, just to check which is the best route for you, whether you are traveling alone or in a group or with your kids, how much luggage you have with you and what time you land. I hope you have found this video helpful and for more information on Lisbon, please visit our website and subscribe to our channel. Thank you, bye bye.

If you can, let taking an Uber be your choice rather than taking a taxi to the city. We took a taxi from the airport to Rossio and was charged 13 euros extra for bringing along 3 baggages. Take an Uber instead and rid yourselves of the chance of getting ripped off.

Thank you for you as well for the positive feedback. It´s much appreciated. I´m sure you will have a great time in Lisbon. Don´t forget to get some sun lotion as temperatures in Summer can sometimes reach 40C (104F). For the main attractions head there as early as possible, or later in the evening, not only to avoid the hottest hours but also the crowds. Have a safe trip!

Been traveling a lot lately. I live in a Airport near the city center town. I'm amazed by how far the airports are from cities in other cities! I'm in Minneapolis. The airport borders the two major cities there. Just take a cab. Pittsburgh, Rome, and Athens seem like the furthest I've seen. Pittsburghs $70 Uber made me start looking at public transport when I travel overseas instead of just jumping into an Uber. Glad I watched videos like this. Oh my point! Lisbon is one of the close ones. Just jump onto the local metro. Not even a train to the metro, just the metro itself.

@@MoMoAKA24 ah... well there is a place which you must visit, as it is really known and offers amazing seafood, the Cervejaria Ramiro. It is also associated to Anthony Bordain who was there once and praised the food and ambiance. Its a bit more touristic nowadays, but still offers an amazing experience. Nonetheless, I would advise you to get there early, to avoid waiting over an hour at the entrance. Check our visiting tips here travelguidelisbon.com/cervejaria-ramiro/. Bom apetite!

Thank you so much for your comment! Taxis won't charge you for luggage - they will be nonetheless hopeful to receive a tip in the end, although the tip is also optional.

I don't have good experience with taxi drivers in Portugal. I would suggest a Uber. If you travel light, just take the subway. It is cheap, fast and take you to most of the city.
