The train is $100+ each way, and is three hours, no complimentary snacks, a dirty bathroom that moves around as the train moves, and you make stops along the way. Plus the seats aren't that clean because the train isn't that new anymore. I will be trying this very soon!

Cost of tolls between NYC and DC one way is about $37. The cost for gas one way is around $35. Round trip that's $134. Add in wear and tear on your car then you start approach $200. With this bus you pay $200 round trip, you don't have to worry about cops pulling you over on the Jersey turn pike trying to get you to pay a ticket for whatever they feel, and you get free snacks, free wifi, and complimentary alcohol. That's hard to beat.

Yea that gas price depends heavily on the economy. I did a cross-continental drive once. I was in actual shock when the gas price in a remote town in Cali was at $15 a gallon. And that was the only gas station in like a 100 mile radius.

This. I do the Baltimore to NYC pretty often for around $70-90 on Amtrak. There aren't much in the way to bells and whistles, but its more comfortable than flying and faster than bus. This does look really nice, but it doesn't make up for time. I think if I was doing a girl's weekend where the focus was socializing then a comfort bus could be where it's at. Or if I was going on a work trip and it fit in the travel budget a slower ride with a good seat is exactly what I would want to catch up on reading.

Great alternative.. I think with all modes of transportation the date and time of day is key… we’re taking Amtrak from NJ to BWI.. 6 ppl, one way, coach… for $75 TOTAL! Mind u we were gonna rent an SUV for $900 😅 I do a lot of research before traveling and this bus will definitely be an option next time!!

@@tld8102 I was not paid to make this. I’ve taken the Jet 3 times. The first time was during their “launch.” They have made some changes since then. They no longer serve adult beverages, though I believe it’s BYOB if you wish. You get two NON adult beverages for free and snacks are now to purchase. Prices, like the train, now depend on when you book and how far in advance. I last took it last month, we arrived in NYC at the start of a political Rally, during rush hour, and still arrive three minutes early. I’ve been shocked how traffic has been a non-issue for the punctuality of the Jet in my three experiences. But hey, haters gonna hate. (I will also say, I’ve taken Amtrak a few times this year, and every time my departure was delayed by at least 90 minutes, and the bathrooms needed cleaning. I’m glad others have had a perpetually pleasant train experience, I’d say go with whichever gives you the best price when you book? But the Jet has always been pleasant for me and I’d personally prefer it.

When I looked at prices for when I was traveling, Acela was $355 EACH WAY. I’m aware they recently rolled out the night owl tickets and that if you book super far in advance you can get less expensive tickets, but I had about a weeks notice that I had to travel.

@@therunningwes I think if you book far enough ahead Acela gets down to $71. They claim to have $20 deals, but I haven't seen them between NYC and DC. I have seen $20 regional trains. That being said, for me personally, the jet was a way cooler experience. So it just depends on what you're seeking. If you want super inexpensive, book the train at least thirty days in advance, OR take a super budget bus.

We had a big fancy bus in front of us 2 cars up when we were stopped for 3 hours behind an accident on an interstate. My Mom was seriously considering asking them if she could use their bathroom! Lol. It was middle of nowhere, there were woods, but she couldn't walk out there and there was a semi next to us. Our options were limited and so we had to cut all liquids. Thankfully we had made a stop for lunch about 30ish minutes before. We where envious of all the guys walking around drinking sodas. Tunrs out everyone gets out, it was a nice day, and socialize. That part was fun! My sister and I forgot to take a picture standing in the middle of an interstate surrounded by traffic. It was just stressful because we where on our way to do the out of state funeral for my Dad at his family graveyard. Man! If we could have had the option for something like this!

@@roypdxful I was not paid. I’m not sure why everyone has such a bee in their bonnet about this tree. Also, it IS worth noting this was made over a year ago, and when I did it, the prices were different than when I rode it this past October. There have been other changes, for example, they no longer serve alcohol. That being said, I STILL prefer it over the train options, as every time I have taken the train the train was VERY delayed. I also don’t tend to know far in advance when I need to go to DC, so the train prices are INSANE! (Even though I know if you book super early it can be cheap. But anyhoooo I CHOOSE to take the jet over the train, and you can choose whatever you want to choose. I present an option I enjoy.

Amtrak is faster, cheaper, more spacious and more comfortable. You can walk around and you won’t get stuck in traffic. Those couple of “free” snacks were definitely included in that $200. There’s no way I’m paying that much for a bus unless it’s a private charter.

My sister lived just outside DC in Maryland and when another of our sisters went to visit they decided to take a bus to NYC and booked it on some private bus service, that was clearly not nice like this one. Just after the bus started leaving NYC to take them back they heard a scream. Then another one. Soon half the people were standing on their seats and screaming while people started swatting things with their shoes, magazines, or newspapers. Turned out that the bus was crawling with cockroaches! They had booked the Roach coach. The driver pulled over while my sister took charge and insisted they bring another bus. Suddenly the driver and the head of the company or the owner forgot how to speak English. They had to continue on. When they got back to the area where they had left the car, they went through their bags to make sure no roaches had gotten in. Nightmare!Too bad the Jet didn’t exist back then.

Then when you get to NYC, hotel is $300 for a standard rate, a bottle of water is nearly $10. The cost of a show is $150 per person. Overall, a day trip and get back the next day cost about $500 from DC to NYC. 😊. I did one of these and it was costly and that was pre-Covid.

How many seats are on this bus? You know if Bus Transport companies started building their buses like this, for comfort than for max occupancy to make the most money. Then folks would probably travel via bus more often. I could see Large Companies booking 1-3 of these to do jobs with other companies or in other countries for projects, and all the while you could relax and work the entire way even if it was across the entire country. You'd just have to plan accordingly. Trains should do this too. I know the train The Canadian does.

Perhaps I should have prefaced this, I had to go to DC with just a few notices - and YES , a roundup ticket on Amtrak was over $600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally could not afford that and went seeking other options and found the jet which…at the time was $200 round trip for me. A challenge with pricing is things like trains and buses use dynamic pricing which means it changes based a variety of factors. When I did it and made this video the jet was in its launch phase and cost $200 roundtrip and services alcohol. I’ve ridden it twice this year as well, and yes the prices went up and they no longer serve adult beverages, so it is different, but I still prefer it to the train, AND, as I’ve said a few times in responses, I rarely have a ton of advanced notice of when I need to make this trip, to prices are at least comparable.
