🇮🇩 Indonesia Yogyakarta - Flying into the ring of fire | surrounded by volcanoes
In this video, I was onboard the plane from Singapore to Indonesia's capital city of central Java, Yogyakarta.
Don't miss the scenery outside of the plane. I got to see more than half a dozen of volcanoes within a short span of 30 mins!
My flight brought me to the new Yogyakarta airport (IATA code YIA), I had a cursory look of the place, given that I will not be back to the same airport at the end of the trip.
I finally boarded the comfortable airport rail into the Yogyakarta city centre!

So it is important to pre book/purchase the train ticket then. I didn't know seats could get sold out. OMG!! Thank you for sharing this information. I will have to book/pay online then. Thank you also for showing the train station, the payment terminals and how to get there. These videos are very useful in planning where to go, to save time and frustration. :)

It is hard to pre-book anything especially after immigration clearance. I do not advise pre-book given that it is very difficult to estimate how long it takes to do custom clearance. It can be very smooth but it can be very long that you might miss the train. More viable is to get it at the kiosk when you reach there.... it is also advisable to have a laid back attitude that if I miss this train, I can always take the next one.

Great vid, you are a very relaxed traveller but I liked the way you were happy about gettting the last ticket but the train looked empty. I loved the volcano’s thanks for sharing, the train looks very comfortable and all of the facilities at the station and airport are first class

thanks for viewing 😀 rather than relaxed traveler, I am more like a lazy traveler. I do not do much trip planning, everything including hotel booking is done very last minute. I guess that's my nature... Can't really be what I am not. lol Yes, I love the volcano cluster along the Indonesian archipelago, that's so overwhelming to look at. Am so glad every country now taking a serious view of tourism, including Indonesia. The world is getting a better place!

that is a challenge you issued me. I had to slow-mo the footage, checked harcorejo which seems to be the name of the village in Jogya. A guess from me could be that is a done up nicely rice shed., for storing the rice harvested around the place. You do have an eagle eye, I must say

interesting observation... I suspect there is no-show here??? I do not exactly know it really works, except I was told I got the last ticket. As you can see, I do not do much homework other than "going with the flow"😁

Hi, Uncle Go. Nice to know you. I'm a traveler as well, couple times to Singapore, and taking an early morning flight is my favorite :) Yes, the airport train ticketing system in Yogyakarta (and so does Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport) is very unfriendly for foreigners. I think it's almost impossible for a foreigner to buy the ticket without any help from the airport staff. Anw, the last time I check, the seat number is useless, you may seat anywhere you want, but I don't know if there's any change now. You are right, Indonesia is more instagrammable-friendly now with the infrastructure boom going on.

Hi Teguh. Great to connect with like minded person like yourself :) I am a night person than a morning person. I always have this phobia of needing to wake up early (and overslept) and catching the morning transport. My preference is red eye flight. When I reach a new location first thing in the morning. That probably explain why there are so many overnight bus/ train/ flight that I like to slot into my trip :D On train seat number. I believe that short Point A to Point B distance isnt too important. There are no one checking the tickets once you are let into the Airport - Town Centre gantry. It makes the difference when the journey is more complicated eg multiple inter city journey. IG friendliness, maybe it has to do with Indonesia having a young population as well. It's always nice to keep the young people into consideration. That's just my guess :D

Hi Uncle, i also plan to Scoot there. But morning flight bit leceh. What time you check in at changi? I plan to handcarry only, what time latest i should be at changi? And coming back, what time at YIA? Thanks so much.

yes, I agreed very leceh... I usually plan to go the airport 2 hours before flight time. I then have to take the first train to the airport. One advice is to do online check in the night before. That gives you more time. Likewise at YIA 2 hours before flight is very safe. The good thing about YIA is that there is fast train to the airport. But make sure you get train tickets early cos it will get sold out. Hope it helps
