I followed this advice. I've been skateboarding for a long time, not with any major consistency, but I've been picking up boards and riding since I was like 5. Recently I got a new longboard for my birthday, so I started going downhill. I was getting pretty good and got over 21 miles an hour. I ignored the twitches and leaned in without hesitation, while maintaining precision balancing; in four days I had no speed wobbles and had the confidence to go downhill very fast. I got a little too cocky and had to bail before an intersection. I was coming down from a pretty big hill going around 20 miles an hour and I got scared and bailed. I caught my first few steps but then I fell over onto my arm and broke my wrist. This was not due to a lack of confidence or ability, surely only a mistake on my part for not being careful enough. luckily I was not seriously injured and only have to wear a cast for 3 months, but be careful everyone! I followed this guy's advice and if I didn't who knows how bad it could have been... confidence is key, hesitation will get you killed, and thinking will drive you crazy. #freetheeyeball

Glad you're ok for the most part man. Please pick up a helmet and slide gloves. They will keep you safe. I also hope your longboard is designed for downhill too. Stay safe man

Damn man, great job! I've been skating for about twenty years, definitely out of my prime, but still downhilling!!! I love the stoke and the solid tips. Edit: don't look down the hill as much as where you want to go! So look *through* the corner, and as far ahead as possible.

Great video man! You are an excellent teacher. It’s so good to have people like you on You Tube who know what they’re talking about. I hope you can come for a skate in Australia one day after all this Covid shit. I heard Harry Clark mentioning you in a podcast so there are people here who respect you bro. And would love to skate with you. It’s a long way to come though so maybe we’ve gotta go there.

@@downhill254skate It would be dream for me to come over there! One day. Hey man a quick question. I enjoyed your segment on Bear Smokeys. I have 180mm Aera K5’s and wanted to put K6’s on my new Rocket Werewolf but getting impatient for them to come out. So I now I’m thinking of the Smokey’s. What do you think? Would they be too different for me? Some DH skaters feel that you should stay with what you know but I’d really appreciate your opinion.
@downhill254skate3 жыл бұрын
@@cmorsley they'd definitely be different. You'll have to adapt as a rider. That's part of the fun tho!

Question - I've got a flexible topmount board with a lot of wedge / dewedge. It has DT Poppys on it and is generally "tight" everywhere except the board itself... Can I slide this thing? It's completely stable at 25 MPH, I guess I'm just worried if sliding is going to be impossible because it has some flex, and since I don't currently know how to slide, I'm worried that I'll become discouraged. I'd prefer to keep the same board for LDP and downhill since I have to LDP to my downhill spots.
