Always ask your professors if they test on lectures or textbooks. My professors used more lecture notes than readings.

I usually try to get a feel for the class and if I'm going to absolutely need to read or even get the textbook or not. Most of my classes have had more lecture-based tests. For me it's easier to learn from a lecture/actual person explaining it than a textbook so I'm definitely grateful for that. I agree about APA formatting! It's not as bad as I thought it would be but like why did we learn MLA only to have APA be required. It's definitely more discipline-based as to what formatting is preferred (humanities are usually more MLA, social sciences APA, etc) but there's sooo much more APA style in college that it seems like it would be worth teaching us both in high school. It's weird though because some of my professors haven't cared that much about specific formatting, they just say that if you're consistent with your formatting they don't care what you use. Pro tip for formatting: Microsoft Word has a built in citation maker that can do both in text citations and works cited pages. (thanks Microsoft Certification class)

at least from what i have experienced my freshman year was, you have to put in the work. getting good grades is easy in high school but studying and putting an effort into your education shows in college classes. great video btw!! love your energy and how you keep it real with your subscribers
