@@HerrTipple Are you getting poor performance in GT4 without being able to locate the option? Im wondering if they've integrated a similar feature by default therefor making the need for the option obsolete?

​@@ModsOnSteamDeckActually I found the issue. The option you show in your video was migrated to a per game option only. When you show it above, you are changing it in global settings. You have to go to the games list in PCSX2 in desktop mode, right click on the particular game (GT4 in this case) and then you will see this option in advanced settings (you must also turn on the option to see advanced settings). A global setting for this seems to have been removed.

This method worked for me, but I had to click "Tool -> Show advanced options" from the emulator main menu bar first. Now the pace car wont slowdown my licences. Thanks!

Dude, I wanna say thank you so much! Was puzzled why it was tanking like 15 fps, especially on the tracks you highlighted. Did your simple fix, and now I'm playing at a rock solid 60fps on a NTSC iso at 2x resolution. Like I can run red dead 2 fine, but not a PS2 game?! 😂

Oh wow, just tried it. 60fps on the PAL version with no issues. That one tweak for hardware download is pretty vital as otherwise you get a lot of stutters with ingame videos i find. Still, glad to see this is working so good now!

Update: 1. I recommend the NTSC Public Online beta version since it supports 60fps, 1080i, and has compatibility with mods like gt4 randomizer. Delete the first save file it creates as it comes with a save that has all cars unlocked for testing. 2. You want to remap PCSX2's "toggle speedup" binding as SELECT + R2 would trigger if you use triggers to accelerate and change view. 3. Regardless of version, look up "trigger calibration" patches for your ROM which will make the triggers less sensitive in-game if you use em for gas/brake 4. disable framerate limits in gamescope - These add lots of input lag and stops the speedup from working as it relies on displaying more than 60fps

You could also run it at 720p in the emulator instead of the full 1080, cause it'll just be wasted since the steam deck doesn't have that big of a screen.

Every save this game creates seems to give you the cheat save with tons of money and cars. Deleting it and making another doesn’t seem to do anything.

Oh my god this is brilliant. Last time I tried GT4 on the steamdeck (like a year ago) the first track you showed off was pretty much impossible to race unless you had your camera pointed backwards for some reason. I'll need to find a good source for the NTSC ROM. Did you try the PAL ROM by any chance? I wonder if you could get 60fps on there.

Awesome, yeah was PAL as the actual genuine PAL games were maxed at 50FPS due to the way TVs worked in the UK back then. NTSC can achieve 60 afaik though!

Lol you're right I thought it was PAL that had 60fps and NTSC that had 50fps. If you get the Public online beta version you can get 60fps easily (and the randomizer mod unlocks all the region-locked cars!l

Question, I'm not familiar with much emulation. Why would you lock this game at 50fps? Wouldn't it be just the same at 60?

So the game in the US was made to run on 60htz NTSC screens and 60 FPS, but the EU markets had 50htz PAL screens meaning there were different versions of the game produced thus there are different versions of the ROMs. There's nothing wrong with locking the game to 60 FPS (to match 60htz screens), but with emulation being quite demanding, it can be (situationally) a more consistent experience to target 50 FPS (and lowering refresh rate to 50 htz) as that requires less of the hardware and the emulator. Hope that makes sense.

You probably have a "dual layer" ROM which sometimes dont boot on PCSX2. I'd recommend the GT4 NTSC Online Beta version which is always single layer, 60fps, and supports upcoming mods. You'll need an NTSC (US) BIOS but thats easy to find now.

@@luka5426 Literally yep! In fact, it'll run even better now as this video was with Steam OS 3.4 and 3.5 onwards has some significant improvements in performance for emulated titles
