Point 6 is very important. I tend to be extra critical of myself and keep wondering what I did wrong. Linda, it sounds like you're a big fan of the "power of the subconscious mind" and thought energy. Having the right perspective is important.

Penelope416 you're human. It's just going to take some training in discipline. I as well have a tendency to do the same thing but we all will get over our shortcomings. We just need to realize our capabilities. Write down your flaws and work on them. Write down your strengths and learn how to use them. Take in as much positive information because when you fill your mind with positive things you will do positive things.That's a quote from Les Brown.

However, I noticed through my years of working with my 1:1 clients, that there are a lot of things that you should actually STOP doing. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts on the tips I have for you below! :)

I agree, there are so many little things that we should NOT be doing. Like how you mentioned not sending the same resume to each job posting an tweaking each a little bit. I've always done this and I know for a FACT that it has made a bid difference in getting call backs for interviews. Thats how I got my job at Stanford University! :) Thanks for the great advice btw, you at spot on!

hi Linda, is it okay to reschedule initial phone interviews, instead of answering on the spot questions unprepared? will this not imply a negative impression from the recruiter? thanks.

Here are the following things that I want to share with the rest. Number one tip says that we need to read job descriptions carefully and only send in your resume when you think you are a fit for the job. The problem is that nowadays every company lists their job vacancies like its a grocery list with various demands. After applying to a dozen companies, I feel like I can never comply with their requests. The second tip explains that we should avoid sending in the same resume to every company. I have been told to only have one resume and avoid in having multiple resumes or change it based off the job you want. In the end, all of the skills, work experience and education are the same. Recruiters are looking at your LinkedIn profile every time so you just can't tailor your resume to each job position you find online.

Glad I came across to your video, but the sad reality in our country especially in our place is that there's a less opportunity to the job you want so that's why some people end up getting job that they don't like just to survive (have money).
@realnaturalist99324 жыл бұрын
I agree...some people look for the job they want and have the skill set to do but months go by without success and therefore in order to pay their bills and feed their families they apply for jobs that may not be of much interest (in the interim). They also continue to look for something they want in the background. Survival mode kicks in for many after savings get low and they need to be employed in order to survive.

To add something to why you shouldn't apply to a job that you don't want, for the majority of people it will effect your work productivity. The last thing you want is job on your resume with a average or less than average review. This is especially true if you use it as a reference. Lets say you applied to a dream job and you nail the interview and this perspective employer calls that reference and they pick up. They say he was an average worker or worse an unproductive worker. What do you think your chances of getting that dream job will be?

I've been applying for almost 3 years and I feel very defeated at his point. I graduated from CSULB with a Bachelors about two years ago, constantly fixed and tailored my resume to the jobs. Tailor your resume so that each resume is well-crafted for EACH job. Find out the employers' needs, and show how you will meet their needs based on your experience. Good luck.

@@ProfessorTanyaSpeaks that honestly sounds like too much work. my advice is lie lie and lie some more. don't tell them you were let go. don't bad mouth past employer. just simply interview like you are gainfully employed. it will do wonders for your confidence. and the trick to beat the ats is to copy past the job posting into your resume in white text. employer will never notice its there. and more chance of resume gets into a person's hands.
