2:40 I’m pretty smart (in general, not in skydiving apparently) and yet my ankle still required 9 screws, a plate, and to be popped back into place 😇. Who said anything about swooping? I’m talking about a basic coached jump lol. There goes my hobby 😅.

Question: So let's say you are loaded at 1.6-1.7 on a Crossfire 3 doing 90s. Not really interested in competing or big turns, but do want more speed. Would you recommend just downsizing the Crossfire or going crossbraced with something like a JFX 2? Also, when transitioning to crossbraced, is it typical to downsize at the same time? Is going from Crossfire 3 at 1.7 to JFX 2 at 1.9 too much of a step in your opinion? Thanks for the vids!

Hello! So in terms of getting more speed downsizing would never be the answer. As you downsize you will naturally start speeding up your landings but it isn't a solution. Usually better technique is the way to go, you (like most swoopers) are probably only going 70 - 80% of the maximum speed possible doing that turn on that wingloading and with training we can get closer and closer to that 100% turn efficiency. As for the downsizes again your mentor/coach will be the one helping you with that decision but you should do a few jumps on a smaller wing if possible. For example if you jump a Crossfire 119 you should do a bunch of jumps on a 109, then a 99 and then get a jfx2 99. Of course most of the jumps will be on the 119 but this si to avoid the transition from one canopy to the other to be so agressive, usually the 109 and 99 in the middle are borrowed from a friend but again not mandatory, some coaches might just have you get more experience on the 119 and then transition on the the jfx a little later. Hope this helps!

This is a very good video. I'm at 75 jumps after starting in January and want to get into swooping. Very informational. Thanks!

Do you have a recommendation for the bridge between a crossfire and the JFX2?
@Frickflyers
@Frickflyers 4 ай бұрын
from the C3 to the JFX2 is a pretty natural progression. I'd say work your way to a 109 or 99 C3 and downsize to a JF2 of the same size

Hey! It's something people ask me almost on a daily basis, Its actually custom made by me. I use a simple velcro system I developed because if you just sew it on it tends to break. Shoot me a text on instagram if you want a pic of the design @frickflyer

I think your wingloading ideas are very conservative, but then again I progressed fast. I have a 1.3WL - 200jumps and semi cross braced. Front are super heavy but goggles are super responsive to the point they act like front risers on other canopies like saber 2. I’m doing 90s atm and thinking of bringing the 90s lower soon. Good video though

Hey bro! My wingloading ideas are not too conservative actually, the Portuguese federation has even more conservative rules, thats partly the reason why we have zero deaths in our DZ. Semicrossbraced, I'm guessing it's a NEOS, i don't know any other semi crossbraced wing. I can't really vouch for it as I never jumped it but I'm sure its a cool wing. Make sure your coach aproves your downsizing and turn progression. Welcome to swooping, stay alive and blue skies!

@@Frickflyers yah I’ve only jumped in Dubai and the US where everyone is on a 1.0+ at 100 jumps. I heard France also has strict regulations. I was on a 1.2 at 100 jumps. And no it’s a fluid wings gangster. Shit opening but love how it flies. It’s like a speed flying paragliding wing. Too much speed for holding fronts but so responsive that u don’t even need fronts. Also thanks for the response

@@HM-wu3gh Ah yes, Dubai, anyone can take a Petra for a spin there, almost hehe. We have the same rules as France, but updated to include rules for hyper performance wings, crossbraced wings and super light jumpers. It took a while to design but it's a pretty effective chart. Fluid apparently makes awesome wings, I only ever jumped the HK so I cant tell, but I'm glad you are enjoying the gangster!

@@HM-wu3gh i would like to help get you in touch with a coach if you're flying a gangster, she is a powerful canopy when pushed a little. openings should also be on point, if you'd like to reach out to me on facebook or instagram I can assist you with these things. blue skies! @HM1903 definitely take @canopyjunkie 's offer. Also you definitely should be getting excellent openings with the Fluid Wings Gangster - if you aren't you might send it to Fluid to get checked out or re-evaluate your body position during openings. I say this as a person who has flown Fluid Wings. Also I cannot emphasize enough how valuable coaching is.

fly the hell out of your B tier canopy, why not learning 810 on it ,even as "ambi-turner'' if you can, and do freestyle as a demonstration of control. YOUR WING DONT MAKE YOU SWOOP BETTER at this point only your technique stop you. people get A tiers way too quick . reach the max Wingload on a B tier and just shred it for at least one full line set or more.
