"How to get into the slot" is the most sensible piece of golf advice ever!
Enjoy!!

For a golf swing that is CONSISTENT, provides a flat left wrist, compression, lag and more. Steve's EUREKA GOLF SWING is now being implemented in 52 countries taking the golfers game to a place that allows the body to turn, the flight to straighten and compression to become a reality.
The starting place is the "iron swing series" offering the set of the Eureka Golf Swing canes and a step by step tutorial of the full action.
REMEMBER: as Steve says, "There is a difference between opening your stance and aiming left".

So I've been shooting between 100 and 104 for a while now, watched this yesterday before playing a 9 and I shot my all time best 47 with this swing! It completely changed my swing, took a few shots to adapt but once I got into the slot, my shots we're looking like golf shots. Amazing tips!

@@stevejohnstongolf I've been learning the Stack and Tilt method I don't know if that's what you teach exactly or not but similar concepts with coming around the body and keeping the hands behind the right shoulder. I still have problems with coming across the body even from that spot though. I think I'm rotating my shoulders too quickly causing my hands to cast out. I know where I need to be but it's still tricky to get that feeling. Do you have any drills or recommendations?

Unfortunately, your baseball analogy is wrong - in baseball, the arms & bat start WELL ABOVE the plane of the swing & drop in for power. Another sport, Ice Hockey, which is more similar to golf with the puck being on the ice, like a golf ball on the ground, the arms & hands work almost straight up, more analogous to the modern golf swings of Hovland, Morikawa & Koepka where the arms move up but the face stays pointing down - it's exactly how a slapshot is done and more & more Pro Golfers are using it.

What happened to the flattening of the club during the transition. I'm noticing that my right arm is coming down face down. Isn't there a need to do something during the transition, such as flattening the swing and coming back on the left foot?

The arms have to lift to some degree. Those who have flatter backswings like Ben Hogan still had to lower their arms in the downswing. Just to a lesser degree than someone who is more upright.

Great advice, Steve! I wanted to ask you for a video: I watched Eric Cogorno in "Golf Downswing Lesson How to get through the ball", and it helped me out of a rabbit hole I've been down, including back pain. My point is, that when I started getting through correctly, my swing did not feel like Eric Cogorno looks - it felt like Steve Johnston looks! When I look at your swing, I see you open up immensely, but so smoothly it is hard to see unless looking for it. An S.J. Video a la Eric Cogorno's "How to get through the ball"?

I like to think about keeping my right elbow moving with my right hip on the backswing....for those that don't stay connected. And on the downswing this is especially important to rotate them down/around together to maintain that connection. This video shows how well this connection is maintained on the downswing! Drill...plant your right elbow on your right hip and rotate back & forth to feel this connection. Gradually move your elbow away from the hip and continue with the same rotation to keep this feeling of connection.

Golf is complicated, so anything that can simplify the game resonates with me. I’ve been using this technique a while now and it has helped me with everything from the driver swing to chip shots. Great video! And it makes so much sense. I’ve become much, much more accurate because of this method. And I tell myself over and over that if I can keep the ball in play, and traveling along the line i want my scores will start coming down along with that pesky handicap number! And it’s working!! Great stuff, Steve. Love it! Keep it coming!! 👍⛳️

Gotta *disagree* with you on this lesson - Hogan's backswing plane was *flatter* than most, but wasn't *nearly* as flat as what you're demonstrating. Hogan also stated in _Five Lessons_ that 1) there's a slight shallowing of the plane on the downswing when correctly executed , and 2) the right elbow leads the way into the slot - causing the downswing plane to shallow *on its own* , with no conscious effort. Correct orrect function of the right elbow is made *much more difficult* with such a flat plane. The worst part of all is that when the plane is so flat, you *sacrifice optimal clubhead speed.* Yeah, you may hit it straight, but you'll hit it *shorter* . Go back an review Hogan's backswing plane - his was notoriously flat, but even still, his left arm is at least up in line with his collarbones. Virtually all Tour players have the left arm *above* the collarbone at the top. Matt Kuchar is the exception, not the rule.

Brilliant advice Steve. Following your Hogan tutorial (especially the right knee tuck) I have just played two rounds in 🇳🇿 with 100% greater consistency of both strike and path. Just struggled with an odd shot missing out short right, but the pure efficiency of the movement is unquestionable when I get the club face and swing path back down the line. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Steve, had a lesson last month. I have a tenancy for my ball position to creep forward, so rightly, the pro moved it back. Been hitting solid shots, but, I'm finding it harder to clear the hips. I've ground it out for a month, but clearing the hips at my age is difficult after 25 years of flipping it at times. I've got the feeling ball position creeps forward because I find it easier to clear the hips. I've tried your set up, when I get it right, the strike and direction are spot on and a club less. But now I see why I couldn't commit on the course with it because of my takeaway. This video nails that part. In the 90s when I started I read Hogan's 5 lessons over and over, but I questioned it feeling my plane was too flat. Now I see it wasn't. At 63, I feel I need your set up to clear the hips more efficiently. Many thanks for this Steve, much appreciated.

I really like this. I've been using the tips from your last couple of videos, and they really work. Gets me to use my body instead of my arms, and I'm striking the ball better and, as importantly, getting better distance from irons. Banging 7 irons 160 yards now, up from 140, and my 8 irons are acting better than my 7 iron shots from before I started this. I have to recalibrate my game, though...lol I'm hitting too far. Nice problem to have at my age.

Thanks for all your instruction and help.

Hi Steve the absolute best way to make sure our hands are behind our trail shoulder is to swing the club back with our Upper Trail Arm and then even more amazing is to start the downswing and finish with our Upper Lead Arm. That’s it! If we do this it is impossible to lift our arms and hands too high. Think about it. The golf swing is one percent action on our part and 99 percent reaction by our body. It is impossible for us to consciously sequence any part of our swing except with the alternating of our upper arms as we swing our club back and forth. Anyone who leave the shoulders alone will experience the greatness of a golf swing. I promise This was Moe Norman secret who often said he swung the club with his arms. However he never mentioned it was specifically his upper arms and that he alternated them back and forth And now anyone can have the feeling of greatness by simply alternating with their upper arms as they swing their clubs back and forth. Many of us have made fantastic shots in our past. Now we know how we can repeat them over and over again Cheers
