Hey mate, thanks for watching 🙏🙏 I believe you definitely can! Basically any compressor pedal can push your amp a little bit, and in my mind, thats exactly what compressor pedals should do :D to push and “tidy” your tone, control other pedals. A majority of guitar players would disagree with me for sure, but for me a compressor should be always the last pedal in the chain, simply because it can smooth your volume differences. Just tweak it how you like it and set your attack knob to a reasonable level :)

Thank you for your precious advices! 😎👍 I have zoom g5n and i recently bought DS-2 and WH10v3 to unleach my sound ! the next one will probably be an overdrive. i didn't know the jackhammer so thanks for the discover i will have a closer look to this one and some others OD options. After one year using my zoom multi effect i came to the conclusion that it has good effects but for overdrive or distortion it's not as good as pedals. Especially if i stack them in the multi effect, then it becomes boxy and glitchy. but the combinaison pedals + zoom (for modulation, time effects) seems to be a good solution. You seems to validate this in you video, am i right? I also eyed digitech whammy more than once, to play some Morello riffs, but i stay with my zoom for the moment. I try not to buy conpulsively because i think that a pedalboard shoud remain simple 😅 thank you again and stay like this! 🤘😎🎸

You definitely get the tone with the tex mex, thanks for showing the difference. I have 2 prs silver sky SE's, they are my only guitars now, because they have the Jimi/John tone(and many others) that I have always wanted. The main reason i never stayed with actual strats is because I could never get one to stay in tune. My strats were quality, but these silver skys have the best tuning stability of any guitar , and I am not the only one that thinks so. It must be the headstock design or maybe their tuners
@KingOfTone69 Жыл бұрын
@@kaneo67 well this depends a lot… for me, I tried a few silver skys in a guitar centres around my country and it always felt kinda cheap (?). Not sure why but it just didnt feel like a real wood to me. And when it comes to tuning stability I really cant say because I have never owned one, but for my guitars now I am fine. For the partcasters, I now have 3 of them, 2 strats and 1 tele and they are just always in tune :D Telecaster especially, I can hang that guitar on a wall for a week, and anytime I come back to studio, its ready :D but recently I bought a 50s Classic Vibe strat, and I have to say the tuning stability is not that good. Hello Meko, incase of a CE-1 (or clone), would you do jackhammer -> ce-1 -> amp or the ce-1 before the jackhammer? I am not sure what to do, i have a vox wah instead of a WH10 so i shouldn't suffer the signal drop that the WH10 has. Kind regards and thank you for this video!
@KingOfTone693 жыл бұрын
Incase of I had a CE-1, I wouldnt use Jackhammer at all :D It should do the "crunch" work just fine. HOWEVER. Currently I have a Past FX Crunch at home,kindly lend to me by my dear friend, which should be simulating the pre-amp section from CE-1 circuit. Therefore it should prevent you from volume jumps from DS2, Muff and WH10. That is basically the main reason why I use the Jackhammer. I found out that it is not working for every amp. It boosts the signal, but cant handle the volume boost from DS2 or WH10 with my Marshall DSL20 amp, because it has no master volume. With my Marshall JCM2000 on the other hand, which has channel volume as well as master volume, the Past FX Crunch works just fine. Now the actual answer for your question :D I would definitely go JACKHAMMER -> CE-1 -> AMP, simply because of the stereo that ce-1 has. For me, any modulation pedal with stereo output should be the last in the chain, because for me the stereo effect works the best this way. Another reason for this pedal order is, that the chorus effect from CE-1 would be "dirtier" or "damaged" if you will, because the gain from Jackhammer will affect the modulation. I hope I helped you, and thanks for subscribing :)
@nickm57603 жыл бұрын
@@KingOfTone69 Thank you for your detailed answer! I also have the Past fx preamp crunch and a boss katana which has master volume, so I see that I should not use the jackhammer. @KingOfTone693 жыл бұрын
@@nickm5760 I have the same issue with Past FX Crunch. If I use clean channel on my amp, a have great clean sound, but the DS2 is too bright. If I go on overdrive channel, the DS2 sounds great, but the clean sound is too muddy and distorted. I spent a few hours comparing the Jackhammer and Past FX last two days, and for my amps the Jackhammer is overall better in every way. If you really want to know the settings, for me it was either low mode on 10 - full - or high mode on 5 - 12 oclock - but neither of these was satisfying enough for me. This pedal just dont work for me at all. However this really depends on the amp you are using. With Silver Jubilee this pedal worked perfectly. Therefore I use the overdrive channel and the Jackhammer. Clean sound is great and also the DS2 is happy with signal naturally overdriven by the OD channel. If I were you, I would definitely mess with your katana settings and channels, I dont know which model so you have, but I believe there are at least 3 channels. When I was trying the katana, the crunch channel worked best for me, with Jackhammer. Maybe give it a shot :) And dont forget to mess a lot with contour and dreq knobs on your jackhammer. I recommend you to use my settings, but it can be different for every amp and it makes a huge difference!

You can definitely use DSL-1, just use ultra gain channel :) I am not using clean channel either, I go with ultra gain channel, gain around 1-3 (just to be there, depends on your overdrive pedal) and then use the volume as you wish :) It might sound a little bit cliche, but from my experience, the louder DSL is, the better it sounds :) And also the DS-2 sounds much much better :) Extra tip: Push the Tone Shift knob to engage it, and add a little bit more treble and mids. The tone shift knob cuts high unpleasant frequencies, and then you add back the right high frequencies with your EQ. Overall sounds and especially the DS-2 and WH10 (if you own these) will sound warmer and much more pleasant for your ears :) Have a nice day mate.🖤

I have never tried the DS-1 myslef, but in general it lacks the power and distortion compared to DS-2 :)

the reason you can get his sound is because you use your thumb on top. it is rare and a bit odd that people play this way . but still its the only way to get his sound . nicely done. now just get a real strat and you will sound authentic.

I no longer wish to sound authentic or copy his style. Ofc I am highly influenced by John himself, i took a lot of inspiration from his playing, his tone or gear. I would say that the main point of this video was to show people that you dont need the exact same gear as your guitar hero to sound like him. You can enjoy and produce music with bare minimum and get around with a lot of exceptions. Thanks for watching and sharing your opinions 🖤 it really means a world to me.

Sorry I tuned out at 23 seconds. If you butcher the opening of slane castle so badly, you’re not gonna teach me more than I already know about JF’s playing.🤷♂️
