@@damionandy You're welcome! Actually I do have a question / possible video idea. I've noticed, as I'm sure others have, that there's basically 4 different ways to affect volume on the TMP: the master volume knob, the preset volume, the volume knob on the amp sim, and then the amp level of the amp sim. Maybe a video explaining these a bit? For example, obviously on a Deluxe Reverb, if you crank the volume knob on the amp sim, you'll get overdrive sound. However, I'm not exactly sure how or why the preset volume would affect the amount of overdrive. I had a preset with, I think it was a Twin Reverb, and on the amp sim volume knob I had it at 50, amp level at 50, master at 100, preset was the default 53, and the sound was totally clean, no overdrive. When I changed the preset volume to 100, it (obviously) got louder but there was then a bit of overdrive breakup. When I lowered the amp sim volume knob to like 3, then it was totally clean again. It's just a bit odd to me to have 4 different volumes. Logically I would have thought that the volume knob on the amp sim would be the only thing to produce on overdrive tone, and the preset volume, amp sim amp level, and master volume would all just make it louder-without-overdrive as they were turned up.

GREAT comment. This is an area I could definitely do a video on and will consider. To answer your question in regards to the Deluxe. The amp level will control how the amp volume affects the tubes on the real thing. I never crank my Deluxe, I enjoy it for cleans. So what I can do is keep the volume at 3/4, but INCREASE the amp level. This increases the volume of the amp at the amp's settings. So Volume on the amp is how the amp pushes tubes, but amp level is perceived loudness. Preset volume is how loud the preset is coming out of the TMP. Inside the mixer, you can control how loud the volume is coming out of the TMP - notice how easy it is to shoot yourself in the foot? This is why I always increase my PRESET volume to 100 and control the overall volume inside the mixer. I pull back my master fader when sending my volume to the FRFR cab or FOH. You can also control this volume going from USB to your DAW. While there are a ton of ways to control the volume, there are also a ton of ways to shoot yourself in the foot haha. Great question man, I hope this helps!

Did you mean Exotic EP Booster? If so, yes, that is an awesome always on pedal. I have one on my real amp board. A little goes along way and thickens the tone....it's all about that transformer tone. Here is an idea for a TMP vid: show how the Green TS pedal has a blend knob which the originals don't. That is a very cool and useful parameter. When you use an amp that needs some low end cut but not quite that much, that blend knob is sweet. You can sort of use that like you would on the Fractal amp blocks input EQ to cut some lows.

I always look forward to reading your comments when I see your name come up on my phone's notification haha. I'll have to check it out! I honestly haven't used the TS that much on here because of that dang Klon clone. It is SO good. And yeah! The Exotic EP Booster! I LOVE that pedal. It's my only analog pedal now haha. I sold my entire pedalboard to pay for the TMP and now I can use my TMP as a pedal board if I want to run the 65 DRRI (haven't yet hahaha)
@bradatherton9369
@bradatherton9369 Ай бұрын
@@damionandysince you love your DRRI I've got a trick you might appreciate. If you want to use only the 22 Watt power amp and 112 cab, you can unplug the reverb tank (I think the return side is the red RCA) and use it as an FX return straight into the power amp. You'll need a 1/4" TS to RCA, but that's easy. It'll widen the use cases for your TMP and nor overdo it with tone stacks squared.

@damionandy

If it's a standard 1/4' cable out, you could try just running it into the mic line - it's bother XLR and 1/4' jack. To get it loud enough, try the studio pre amp. It'll give it the proper gain boost without coloring the sound. Then it'll sound pretty good through an FRFR speaker. You could even change the output of it so it has it's own speaker.

@@TR-on9txSince the TMP also has an Aux in (mini jack), you might get by using an adapter or adapter cable to feed your BeatBuddy in that way. (I‘d recommend a proper cable rather than an adapter, just to rule out possible intermittent contact). I have ordered a TMP and also have a BeatBuddy I want to input via the Aux in, leaving the Mic and Instrument channels free for those signals. What I don‘t know yet is if the Aux in has a way of setting the input volume/gain within the TMP. If not, you‘ll have to see if the BeatBuddy can output enough signal. Perhaps you will want to use the Headphone out on the Beatbuddy, which has a volume control. And if all else fails, try using a mini mixer (like my beloved EAE StompMix 4) to first input the BeatBuddy - plus whatever other „extra“ stuff you might have) into the StompMix 4, and from there into the Aux in. That should for sure get you enough gain.
@TR-on9tx

@@scottbecker3485 I have a splitter on the mic input. Running mic and beat buddy together, I have in line volume on beat buddy..since I don’t “color” the mic it’s working okay. I have tried the send return on 1 but haven’t figured out what I’m doing wrong, no luck on that as of yet.
@scottbecker3485
@scottbecker3485 7 ай бұрын
@@TR-on9tx Now that‘s a creative solution. :-) Wouldn‘t work for me, though, since I will use various effects on my vocals (subtle, but important for the songs I cover). As for the send/return, that‘s also an interesting idea, though then all post-loop effects would apply, and some of those might be for the guitar? Can‘t wait to get my hands on the TMP and try some stuff out. Hope you‘ll enjoy yours a lot, and get everything to work.

Damion you seem to the person who has dug in the most on the Tone Master Pro. I picked up one and see to be having an issue with the USB out volume on my model. I am connecting it to an iPad to use in Garage band. Even if i set the perset volume to 100% it still seems super quite. I am begining to believe I may have a defective unit :(.
@damionandy
@damionandy 9 ай бұрын
Hey Charles, thank you for the compliment. Before you decide it's a defective unit, let's check a few things. First, have you updated to the latest firmware update? Next, click the Master button (Big button on the top right). Look at USB 1/2. Channel 1 is your TMP tone, Channel 3 is your dry guitar tone. USB 2 and 4 are the inputs above instrument and same thing, TMP tone then clean tone. If those are both turned up, confirm your preset volume is at 100%. Lastly, click the amp you're using. Look at the bottom left where it says, "Amp Level". Increase that to above 60%. Lastly, double check the fader inside of Garage Band. Make sure it's at unity (0 DB). If you have confirmed all of those things, I'd reach out to Fender. They may want you to do a factory reset, and repeat all the steps above. But you have a 2 year warranty, so I wouldn't be too worried. That's just really annoying. I hope this helps!
@charlesgillespie5049
@charlesgillespie5049 9 ай бұрын
On the TMP Output Mixer everything is pushed up to 0db, connecting the iPad to the TMP with usb C. The amp volume is is way above 60%. I think I need to try connecting to another source through USB to determine if it an issue with iPad and the TMP together. I have Logic Pro on here as well with the same result.

Hey Damion, great video. One thing I’m struggling with is this: If I use any of the 4x12 cabs through my Fender TM FRFR the 4x12 built in IR’s always sound boxy at lower to medium volumes. This is with the low cut up to 150 even. I have tried all the mic positions. I am not new to modelling as I have owned many units. Boss, Helix an HX stomp etc. If I use my studio headphones the 4x12’s sound fine. The problem for me is getting a natural tone at home in the apartment using the FRFR’s with the TMP. I have been using the 2x12 Creamback cab because to me it’s pretty much the only one that sounds realistic. I play 80’s metal and beyond. Btw my Helix sounds good using the 4x12’s
