Decoding Reznor’s music charm didn’t degrade the myth, quite the opposite. Applying his technique to your own song, created a true inspiring force for all of us - bedroom producers! Wrapping everything up in your genius retro, almost satiric-ish ‘music video clip’, lifts up all the reznor-seriousness, to leave us with a unique sense of possibility and hope. Thank you for your great work!

Nine Inch Nails is the reason I’m a multi instrumentalist and writer. From Fugazi to QOTSA to Primus to The Beatles to Bowie and so many other musical legends. But Nine Inch Nails have been my 95%. And I still don’t know all of his work. It’s nature rather than nurture with TR. I play drums…I could play a NIN gig but Rubin is staggering. Nuclear Rubin is what I had in my mind last time I saw NIN in London. Lights were too bright for me though. I can play NIN songs on piano and guitar including a blues style version of Hurt played in the correct key (B) and also playing the high note in the verse…something RF doesn’t do. But he is NIN too. Bass, rhythm and lead aren’t too challenging. It’s the songs isn’t it. The writing is genius at a constant genius level. Even The Beatles ran out of juice. TR is still hitting those highest places almost every time. Erase the word “Almost”. I can’t think of a song of his that isn’t perfectly created. I don’t like every NIN song but they’re always perfect regarding mixing and production. Brilliant upload bu the way mate. TR always gets the darkness in his work. That is so fucking difficult to do. I use a omnisohere inside Bitwig with Soundtoys 5 effect rack, Reason Rack and some Izotope plug ins. Stunning products. The I.T guys who design these plug ins are the new ground breakers to me. The real pop stars me thinks too.

Very respectable taste you got there my friend! NIN (well Trent, basically) is the reason why I as a youngster decided to expand my knowledge from guitar to piano, bass, synths + modular and also learning recording, mixing and the overall production side of things. Seeing NIN live was also something I’ll cherish as one of my TOP3 musical experiences for the rest of my days and I’m 100% sure it won’t change as their stuff is timeless. Very futuristic, yet familiar like it’s been a classic for more than 40+ yrs.

@@miomimomiro hi mate. Long story but I had tickets to go see NIN in Cornwall (Eden project) for last Friday. Because the person I was going with is a liar it turned out that I couldn’t afford the petrol to get there and back home…about 700 miles. So I wasted £150 on two tickets…that the liar still hasn’t paid for. And maybe I’ve lost the chance to see NIN for possibly the last time? Do I forgive my neighbour? I gave him so many chances to tell me how it is with him but he lied. Repeatedly. I’m devastated to have missed NIN. And because I didn’t think this would happen I then didn’t get tickets for their London gig at Brixton Academy…which is tonight. What DAW and plug ins do you use? I’m Bitwig, Reason Rack, Omnisphere and many Izotope VSTs. We are lucky these days aren’t we. The things we can do now compared to just 10 years ago are insane.

He inspired me to buy a synth at a very early age. My music is very dark, very spacey, very violent. In conjunction with the OPs comment, yes I've achieved very nice sounds with VSTI and FL Studio. I do record into a laptop, but with analog synths.

Excellent work! Sounds pretty close to Hesitation Marks era. On my opinion the only thing which Trent would have done in a different way - is a structure of the song. What Trent would probably do - is delay the chorus and do the second verse right after the first one, introducing more instruments to the arrangement. And only then there'd be a chorus part. Trent likes to keep the tension...
