Do you get the SMS messages on your Mac? If so, then the notifications should appear there too. They do for me. Check your Notifications settings in System Preferences for Messages.

Hello Gary, Thanks for your great videos! I have turned off all sound notifications for all my Apps, plus my 'do not disturb' is continuously on - however I still get pings from incoming WhatsAp. I don't use WhatsApp, but I'm guessing that the sound is not a system notification but something coming directly from the app.

When receiving a file through Airdrop... there's an alert banner that stays permanently onscreen. Is there an option or preference for it to disappear automatically ( like a time delay banner ) ...rather than having to mouse over it, and click the little 'x' that then appears? In the notification centre, there's no option for changing how the Finder deals with banners and alerts.

There's more to it than just "on" or "off." Look carefully in System Preferences, Notifications, Mail and set things as you like. If they are set right, try toggling them on and off. Also, try a restart to see if that helps.

I use the trackpad. Apple's trackpads are second-to-none and way better than a typical windows laptop trackpad. You'll see.

There are settings in Mail, Preferences for that, but in general you will only get Inbox messages as a notification.

I would love to have two features in mac os, maybe you know the way aaround this. I would like to , when I'm viewing the dock and want to close some apps , to have a combination of a key and mouse click to close them and also in the new notification have a combination of key and mouse click to delete specific notification ( there is to be a delete button with was very convenient in catalina's notification ), and not have to do much clicks. I don't know what you mean. There are lots of ways to quit apps (or hide them -- even better). You can command+tab through the apps and use the Q key to quit and H key to hide. No shortcut for closing notifications as it isn't clear which it would apply to.

I"m stuck with 100's of finder notifications every day. Finder notifications you can modify, clear all, stack or anything you can only clear one at a time. Any thoughts?

@@macmost 100's of disk not ejected properly. There is a bug still with thunderbolt drives getting kick off repeatedly while the computer is sleeping. I just found a few seconds ago I could type into terminal "killall notificationcenter" and it will wipe all the notifications out at once.

Hello sir there is a setting in the system preferences-> notifications called "allow notifications when the display is sleeping". According to me it would mean that my mac will show notifications even if the mac is asleep( mac's lid is closed or if it goes to sleep due to inactivity), however this setting is not working for me! I used whatsapp desktop to verify it, i put the mac on sleep and messaged my phone from a different phone but my screen didn't give any response. Is it a problem with my devices or does the setting works differently? Thanks and regards

I don't think WhatsApp uses normal notifications. I think they go their own way with sound alerts. Try it with a Reminder or Calendar event.

@@macmost yes sir, I have experimented using the reminders app. It is exactly like this, the notification is already present on the lockscreen. It can be interesting to note that if we turn on "notifications while sleep" we will get a notification on our lockscreen after waking even if we TURN OFF "notifications while device is locked".

These widgets are part of the Notifications Center. There's no way to place them somewhere else. What is it you are trying to DO exactly? Is there a particular function you want to have or information you want to see all the time?

@@W5MHG Just search the App Store for something like "desktop weather clock" and you'll find many solutions for putting a clock and/or the weather on your desktop. You already have a clock in the menu bar though, and there are some apps that will put weather in the menu bar too.

Did you check in System Settings, Notifications for the Badge Application Icon switch for those apps? Try turning off and on again if it is already on. If that doesn't work, maybe try a restart.

Already reported this issue on apple forums and the gave me the same solutionas you did. Also i searched google to find any fix but no luck. I would like to know how to dismiss a notification. Seems simple, but for many it's not. Not for 5 min to 1 hour, but for the remainder of that specific event. I have a weekly event setup. Once I take care of if, I no longer want to see the event notice until the next week. Nothing I do works. I continue to get reminders. How can I make them stop, without turning them off all together. You should update as important security fixes are included with most updates, not to mention compatibility with other systems and devices that could cause problems if you are out-of-date. Why don't you want to update?

@@macmost I do appreciate your concern for my security. However, I run multiple Mac systems across many recording studios in LA. The software professionals use do not keep their software compatible all the time to the constant mac updates. Including the firmware for all the peripherals we use. Many Professionals do not want to constantly update, or update at all, because A: They will have to change their worflow due to some OS or Finder change, or B: certain plugins will no longer work.. Older recording sessions will not open etc etc etc. I just wish it was more accessible. I prefer windows, but unfortunately Mac is currently the industry standard for entertainment.

Not sure what you are experiencing there. So you click the clock at the top right corner of your screen in the menu bar and you get the option to "View as Analog?" Which version of macOS are you running?

Ok, so this happened... I was away for two days. upon my return I have a list of banners on the right side of the screen "Disk Not Ejected Properly" I have been clicking the x for 10 minutes. I think this is a big problem. I have made a screen shot, but you probably don't need to see it. As I am writing this it is generating a new banner every minute or so. I am alarmed!

I honestly don't know what happened to Apple. I still have every mac I ever owned dating back to my still working IIc but I think this may be my last.
