Short on ramps make me so nervous especially when there is traffic going at high rates of speed. Hard to find a gap. Love the city driving instruction. Thank you. Great job.

You and me both! You have to put your foot on the throttle and put it right to the floor. Accelerate, accelerate!! Drop us a note if we can help further my friend. Cheers Rick

For those, it is best to be patient and wait till there is a safe gap in traffic and then hit max throttle and make sure you are up to highway speed before you make the lane change. Ignore the drivers behind you on the on ramp who are honking and getting impatient. Those are the people likely to cause accidents by merging in when there is traffic.

I recently took a trip out to Nova Scotia from Ontario. And it was mind numbing how many people would break on the active lane of the 100km/h highway to let cars coming on from short ramps (because they did not get their speed up enough). I was very relieved to have a dual dash cam.

That is crazy!! And they think they’re being helpful, when in fact what they’re doing is incredibly dangerous. If more drivers simply focused on their own driving, and be more predictable, crashes would be reduced. All the best, Cheers Rick

7:33 I have a question regarding this-I was recently driving on a road in Michigan, neither a stop Sign nor a yield sign was present, but the car still has to merge onto a one lane highway (the center concrete median in that scenario is directly to the left of the lane that you are currently in. I have a few questions): 1. If there is a long line of through traffic in the lane that you are in, should the merging cars come to a stop (even though there is no yield sign)? 2. Is this common where such a yield sign in missing? 3. Who do I contact to suggest including a yield sign (I have been a merging car and had to come to a stop multiple times-only to have the cars behind me honk frantically)?

I took my class 7 road test yesterday and failed. I was sitting in the intersection at a green light waiting to turn left. Before there was a clear spot to go the light turned yellow so I started to turn because the other cars coming onwards were stopping. Mid turn the light went red. He claims that I was stopped behind the crosswalk and then turned left on a red light, but this is untrue I was in the intersection and would’ve been unsafe to stay there so I turned. This is how I failed any opinions? Just to not my examiner did not make me feel comfortable at all even though I told him I was nervous, he didn’t say hi or try to talk to me one bit. At the end he told me I failed and walked away.

Not the examiner's job to be your friend. Rather to determine if you're a competent driver and worthy of issuing a license to. Relax, listen carefully to directions (ask questions if something is unclear) and you'll be fine.

If you have a learner's permit from New York State you cannot use the parkway system yet neighboring New Jersey allows a learner's permit to drive onto the Garden state parkway. For a New Jersey permit driving in New York State they need to know that Parkways in New York state prohbit learner drivers. New York State permit driver in New Jersey they can actually drive on Palisade and Garden State Parkways once they reach New York State boundary they can't. In addition to restrictions that prohibit them from driving State Bridge Authority MTA Bridges and tunnels. NJ MVC doesn't have those roadway restrictions that NYS DMV has. NJ Garden state parkway rule is no trucks north of Eatontown exit 105 but south of exit 105 trucks allowed. For New Jersey exit numbers are mileage-based exceptions are I-95 & I-78 NJ Turnpike system Interstate and 676 Camden. Outside of New York City right turn on red is permitted unless there is a sign that prohibits that.
@smartdrivetest3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that incredibly detailed information for both learner drivers and truck drivers. It can be a bit challenging to drive in NY & NJ. All the best, Cheers Rick
@geepeezee50302 жыл бұрын
What a commie state. Is there an actual justification for this restriction?
@EpicThe1122 жыл бұрын
@@geepeezee5030 which one are you talkin about the parkway restriction in New York State or the one in New Jersey? For New York State it would have to do with the learner driver inability to get up to highway speed from a short acceleration Lane
@ThePissedOffPig10 ай бұрын
Because the GS parkway in NJ is actually built like it's supposed to be with proper on ramps.
@EpicThe11210 ай бұрын
@ThePissedOffPig thank you for telling me about that at least NJ MVC learner drivers can use it. Once they get to New York State they must know of the no learners on Parkways statewide and no Learner drivers on MTA Bridges and tunnels followed by the 9:00 p.m. curfew.

The yield sign is just to remind you that the onus of responsibility for merging is on the merging driver. So no, get your foot into it and get er' going. Get it up to speed and get it going my friend. Drop us a note if you have further questions. Cheers Rick

True but some of those ramps are so bad and if there’s no where to go some people will still force themselves in. The areas rather put stop signs up and have people j blow it then a yield sign and someone not yield
