Double lapel grab defense. The guy grabs me here, and his hands are tied up. I'm going to bring one hand through, elbow in the face, and my hand keeps traveling around his neck. Now look. I put one leg here, and the other leg on the same line as the first leg. Both my legs are encompassed by his.
Notice that my legs are between his. They are on the same line. I cannot do this like this. No wide base; both legs are below or under me. When I come back up, the opponent is on my lower back. I throw him to the side.
And that is how you defend a double lapel grab.

oh wow thats the same exact thing we do in wrestling. its the headlock throw for us. just goes to show how similar they are except that they can fight on their backs while we are trained to not be on our backs at all

If yr opponent simply drops his hips and pulls his head back thru he will have your back and be in position to slam you back onto yr head. Better if you hook yr arm under his arm pit instead of headlocking

It's a self-defense video. I'm guessing this would work pretty well against the average attacker in a self-defense situation, especially if it's done quickly.

you'd be surprised.. this is harder than it looks. natural to try to make a wide base and you will fail this move with a wide base. very unnatural to put your feet closer together if you've played any football or similar sports.
