i only started tekken 8 last night, but the same scrub neutral bait i used in tekken 7 works here as well at green ranks works almost every time, and its harder to punish: on the FIRST FRAME of FIGHT db3, get up 4 (dont spam into tsunami kick) just the getup 4. then sidestep, they whiff as a mofo, BACK THREE, have fun :)

I've been giving opponents too much credit and have been going for frame traps. You've opened my eyes. I really should be abusing RFL d+4,3,4 like it's about to be taken out of Hwoarang's move list.

You’re 100% right but it hurt my heart to see “keep your combo simple” on that run - 4,4,4,4 conversion that I keep dropping

You don't have to go for that combo route every time if you're still not confident with it. After a launch, just do a f4, u/f4 for the tornado and repeat u/f3+4F for the wall carry. For the f4, b3, 4444 combo, you need to keep practicing your deep dashes. Be as close as possible to your opponent before doing the 4444. Once it's in your muscle memory, you will execute it more than you will drop it 😉

yo thanks for this, would u consider doing more guides as in more general gameplay of hwo and some strings that everyone should know to pressure? Im begginner tekken player and want to learn hwo but all my friends tell me trying to learn hwo as first character ever is a bad idea, id like to prove them wrong :D

I started playing Hwoarang with zero tekken experience as well. It's definitely doable but be prepared mentally to accept many losses early on as you need a lot of time to even learn and get used to his basic pressure moves. With regards to the guide, I'll do it if I have time :)

I picked him up in T7, tried him in all other games, but i wasn't passionate enough. now after a couple years in t7, he is reborn into a total package, sidestepping is not his primary weakness i dont think, i still think he struggles with mid range, even with the new RF df3, its good on paper, but jesus christ the mid range acid trip with some of the other chars, fucking jabs are mid range now...anyways, this video looks promising, i just started ranked last night and im already green rank, easy wins af.

Never fall into a flowchart offense, that's how you become predictable and lose half your life. Defensive play with hwoarang is how you rise the ranks, every single hwoarang player knows how to play offensively. What separates the good from the great is your defense. Hwoarang has a full throw game, not as extensive as king, or nina. Abuse the throws, tilt your opponents and force them to make a mistake. That's all I got as a Bushin Hwoarang. Good luck guys

What is the combo notation on the... I want to say WS 2,3 around 3:01? And can u recommend any thing to combo after his CH RFS d/f 4 (I think)

WS 2,3, d/f3F, f2,3, 2+3 heat burst, 4,4,3. For combo after CH RFS d/f4, i always go with d/b4, 1, 1,2,4, u/f4, 3~4 backlash into heat burst/wall carry etc.

That sounds much more easier than d/b4 f1 that ive seen. Ill have to try. Either way, every time I land a CH RFS d/f 4, I can never remember the combo XD. Also at around :58, when you say 3+4, im assuming that means motion switch into RFF correct? I cant tell and I havent labbed it. Been busy with other games.

Could you plz do a flowchart guide for beginners on how to keep a blockstring with positive frames. Also does hwao have any fillers and enders that work universally or on most launchers? I've been trying the 4-4-4-4 > uf3-4-3 but sometimes it doesnt land. Plus its low dam

I have already made a combo video for all Hwo's launchers so it can give you some ideas of different combo fillers and enders. You don't have to do 4444 and uf343 everytime. If you look in the description of this video, the link to the combo video is there titled sample combo from all launchers 😊

2:07 sorry maybe i'm missing something, what changes about d3,4 into d4,3,4 in heat versus doing it regularly? Does d3,4 or d4,3,4 become a guaranteed combo from the first hit?

I may have worded it confusingly. Heat does not change the properties of d3,4 but it does guarantee the whole RFS d4,3,4 string if the first d4 hit connects. If not in heat, the final 4 will not be a natural combo (unless the first d4 is a counter hit). Players at lower ranks will usually eat the whole d3,4 d4,3,4 package since they rarely duck so that's why I recommend using this flowchart against them.

There are plenty of ways to deal with turtling opponents. Do quick safe attacks to test the waters. Do low attacks if they're not ducking. Do throws. Run close to them and back dash to bait an attack and punish them.

Honestly, you guys need to practice and learn the match ups. There’s no easy way to raise your ranks. When you get to red ranks, that’s when the fun begins. Just keep grinding quick matches because ranked is gonna piss you off.

Just chain multiple u/f 3+4. Remember to hold forward after each u/f 3+4 so you will land in LFS so you can continue chaining the u/f 3+4. If you don't hold forward, you will land on both feet and won't give you enough frames to chain another u/f 3+4

I don't remember how I unlocked it but in the player customization if you hover over the tag, the game tells you how to unlock it.

Hey thanks for checking out my video. Try to do some random duck jabs to interrupt him in his flamingo stances if he is continuously pressuring you. Also try sidestepping or back dashing and punish when he whiffs. As you play more of the matchup, you can see that there are actually weaknesses in his strings and the moves are not as intimidating as you think. Good luck!
