“Didn’t China just go through an incident where they had a company telling Chinese people they would store their gold and in return they would give them “an amount” of gold each year for storing it,…and then the company went away - “went away with everyone’s stored gold”. Same thing also happen “last year” with a company in Texas that told people something similar (company said they would vault gold for people),…and then that owner ran off to Dubai. Yeah, Screw that. I have a couple of goldback leases in my family and a gold lease in my UPMA GoldIRA account. I love getting gold each month as interest. From time to time they've had silver leases too. I also love having a stack of Goldbacks at home to spend, which I do.

Have you done swaps? I see they charge a 1% fee for that, which is pretty amazing. The goldback leases are interesting as well. How does that work exactly? 2% sounds small to me, so what am I missing? I've read UPMA website countless time - it's not the easiest website to understand clearly. I want to try to replace my bank with UPMA as much as I can.. I see UPMA as a liquid means of utilizing your gold and silver, even growing it too via swaps and leasebacks. Of course, actually owning it should be another layer in one's portfolio. All these folks chiming in with "if you don't hold it..." mantra are so triggered they're not seeing the whole picture

@@matt8578 I've done several (8-10 at least) swaps. I don't remember any fees at all. But I just went to the website and read that they have one. I've not seen one in my records

@matt8578 the leases are slick. 2-3.5%, depending on how much you have in your depository account. I have leases for each of my kids' accounts. One in my goldIRA and one in my wife's account. For PMs just sitting that 2% is a bonus I don't get with what I hold. This year the increase in PM values has brought in the best return and since I have some PMs in my depository I've benefited 2 ways instead of only one. Call the UPMA they're nice and can explain anything you don't fully understand. I started slow but have gotten much more aggressive in my PM holdings within and without my UPMA account. Say, "Hi" from me. I talk to them often.

@matt8578 I also have the visa debit card through the UPMA, I think that is a great way to hold liquid PMs that you can spend anywhere. That's instant liquidability. Something one usually loses when selling at a LCS. Spending is superior to selling IMO. Cheers

I don’t trust banks with fdic and they have a track record good and bad . Some place that says there insured by Lloyds of London and others (not sure who insures these guys ) but it does not mater , if something goes south I don’t want my money tied up these or other companies. If you can’t hold it you don’t own it .

Absolutely horrible idea. Even though gold is more of an insurance policy than absolute investment. You literally are still losing out spending double the premium. You could literally spend the same money on bullion and earn that back just stacking and cashing in later.
