How to get pastel hair (From dark Asian hair)

Sorry the volume became really low when the coloring portion came on, I filmed that part with my iphone. On another note, I've been wanting to make this video for awhile now but just never got around to it but regardless it's here! I don't want to write too much here because everything's explained on my blog: www.lazybumtotb... and in the video. So hope you guys enjoy this one and hope it's informative enough to help.

A lot of people say you need to make your hair white before dying it a pastel color. It looks like you did more of a light blonde, and the end result is great! I feel a little scared of lightening my hair until it's white, so it's good to know that this way works too.

+PxlFlame Prolly wouldnt be this easy to get a pastel mermaid blue/green, it would come out more brassy I believe. Purple tones yellows and neutralizes brassiness alot, thats why you don't need a perfect ashy platinum before getting lilac hair ^^

Use an angled eyeliner brush and a light taupe/brown eyeshadow and fill in your brows. Easy-peasy. :)

I would've never figured it was possible to get brassy yellows out with just using dye and having it come out so light after! I was hesitant and thought I'd have to lighten my hair twice to achieve that sort of a pastel look but I'm glad I watched this. A really pastel/drop of violet/purple dye in a ton of conditioner mixed to dilute seems to work wonders instead of needing to lighten to a white-ish color to achieve the same thing

okay, as a cosmetologist I see a few problems. first off, when you bleach start in the back the hair in the back of your head is more resistant that's why your front is blonde and your back is yellow. also, use thinner sections when youre bleaching. and don't eyeball the mix when youre mixing bleach. use the scoop for both liquid and powder. then for your actual color section, I never recommend any of the color jamz colors. I've heard nothing but bad reviews on their quality. and also make sure they don't have any metallic salts in them. if you get bleach on hair with metallic salts in it, it will MELT your hair. also, ion isn't my favorite color line but if youre going for a pastel purple, then look at their pastel line. I also don't recommend mixing different color brands in the same color formula. like using color jams in the same mixture as ion isn't the best idea. for every unwanted color there is an opposite color to counteract it. if you want to get rid of yellow, use purple. if you want to get rid of orange, use blue. also, to help stop fading use sulfrate free shampoo!

I have the same hair colour featured in the video, and my dad was against it at first too. I guess it really depends on WHY he wont let you do it. My dad didnt want me to because of two reasons, he doesnt like coloured hair, and he thought the bleaching would kill it. I explained that hair grows out, and colour can be changed super easily, and personally, the bleach didnt ruin my hair all that bad. So long as you take care of it, theres nothing to worry about. Maybe perhaps making a deal with him would help even? I told my dad if it looked SUPER bad, id dye it back, and pay myself to get it done (it looked fine, and i knew it would but still, it helped make him feel better about it) and second half was id dye it back if i get a job and they require "natural" hair. But yeah, in the end, both of us were happy. I hope it helps!!

maiyycouture my parents are Asian (very strict) and they won't let me because of reputation (teacher etc. because bleached hair, unnatural haircolour= bad girl) and it's hard to dye it back to natural black and damages my hair. so i started to buy kanekalon wigs and since i'm older now. i've bleached my hair and i'll dye it pastel blue violet(ombre). it's holiday so it's ok to do it and i can overdye it. good luck.

I found out by personal experience that for some reason mixing different Ion Color Brilliance dyes makes the color wash away way faster. A single color by itself lasts a lot longer, specially the Sky blue shade, it lasts for weeks!

Just so others know, with my experience: If your hair is not taking to any color after bleaching it, especially for those with dark colored hair, you should use a keratin shampoo and keratin conditioner. My friend is a cosmetologist and after a bad experience at the salon, she told me to get the "It's a 10" keratin shampoo & conditioner. She said that it helps repair the damaged hair follicle. When you bleach your hair, especially for a long time, it tends to get over processed, even with a higher volume developer. When you leave it on for so long, your hair follicle gets damaged in the process and the color won't take to the hair. But this is just my experience and it's just to help out anyone with the same issue I had. Everyone's hair is different, but other than that, I LOVE the pastel look!

shaney swank I use a product called overtone to upkeep with color. It's a conditioner you can use in the shower that deposits color.

had the same colour 2 yrs ago, my hair was dry as straw. it was nice if i would take 30 min extra a day to style it and stuff, but it was too much work and the dryness made me go crazy. so now my hair grew back to shoulder length ( it was halfway my back) and i am so happy i have my healthy hair back :')

Je me fais actuellement des tie&dye rouges ou roses et ça me plait, ça passe inaperçu et j'assume bien. Par contre, l'année prochaine je quitte le lycée et je veux me faire des cheveux turquoise... He Tr Fais le et au pire, si ces cons se moquent de toi (ça m'étonnerait quand même), tu feras une colo plus foncée et puis c'est tout. Mais franchement, quand la couleur est bien faite, tu as plus souvent des compliments que des moqueries :) Juste un truc, sache que le bleu tache beaucoup les cheveux donc si tu en as marre du bleu, tu peux faire une couleur plus foncée, plus claire ce sera difficile puisque ton cheveu sera taché :( il faudra alors faire une décolo. Voilà voilà ;)
