Rusty is an 18 year old male Eclectus Parrot that has been through 3 homes and has feather destructive habits. Getting plucked birds to bathe is so important! Here is how I trained Rusty to tolerant baths.

I have a plucked chicken, green cheek conure. Her name is chicken. She loves to bathe. She was a rehome/rescue. As an added note she looks like a mini buzzard.💚🤣

Rusty reminds me soooo much of my Green (Eclectus) Chicken Hank. We are Hanks third home, he is a Recovering Plucker and Barber, did not like bathing,. We have had Hank around three years and a week ago he was happily play in the bottom of the shower for the first time. He is finally beginning to look like a real Eclectus with only the occasional barbering of a few feather and fingers crossed, no more plucking. He was not a fan of toys either but now happily now forages and chews up my catalogues 🥰🥰

It saddens me to hear that this adorable little bird was punished with water to the point he has been traumatized and has developed fear (understandably) and also that he has been re-homed many times. I’m overjoyed that you are helping Rusty 🥰❤

I have an eclectus that was given to me because the person could no longer care for him and knew I would. He is thriving and such a sweet bird. I couldn't imagine why someone would punish a bird especially since he looks just as sweet as mine.

I so fascinated. I don’t have a bird and can’t have a bird because I’m so allergic. Jamie you are so caring and radiate calm to this bird. You did so much with it in just a day. My plucker is naked like this guy and he flys. It was one of the first things I worked on after basic socializing and targeting. We still struggle with regular bathing though.
