I am an American married to a Singaporean that recently got my PR. We've been married for a year and I've been living here 2.5 yrs now. I haven't worked ever since coming to Singapore. I looked and applied but wasn't successful in scoring any jobs. I did volunteer at the local library but it was just 1 time. I do have a master degree so I don't know if that helped any. Overall, I find that if you're not Malaysian/Chinese, your chance of getting PR is highest if you're married to a local (AKA family ties).

It can't be that all the PRs in Singapore have at least a Master degree. Many have qualifications lower than a Bachelor's degree.

The secret is, you earn good or at least decent wages. Govt only cares about the economy, not so much about the social aspects
