How to Get Rid of Algae in a Pond - Pond & Lake Algae Control

We have a 2-tier rock waterfall 20 ft x 20 ft. which is varying depths of a few inches to about 12 inches. We remove the pump in Fall, which is located underneath the bottom pond layer. The lower level of the waterfall is where the water and leaves collect over the late Fall and throughout the winter. We did not have the waterfall running last summer, so all the fall leaves are collected from the past 2 seasons. The entire surface this Spring is covered in Algae. We want to clean the waterfall/pond ourselves but have never had to do this much. We have heard so many good things about the pond guy, I know you can help.

Do lily ponds help or hurt a earthen pond , as far as do they add oxygen to the water or deplete oxygen from the water ? Ive read varying opinions about this.

For large acreage ponds, we advise against introducing lily pads, as they have the potential to become invasive.

@@thepondguy Opinions seem to vary on this subject. Some people claim, the lily pads actually provide oxygen to the water and greatly reduce water temps in summer heat, due to the coverage they provide on top of water, thus imprpving oxygen levels in the water, even more, along with reducing water evaporation from the summer sun.
