Very informative video on how to deal with this pest. I planted a double row of green giants and cypress tress. The trees are now over 20 feet tall and were doing well until this year. Upon closer look I discovered the "cones" that had invaded my trees and nearly killed one tree. I collected a bucket full and killed them. I will be spraying the trees next spring. Thank you

Oh my goodness. I saw one literally stuck to the window at my job and freaked out. I've never seen one before so I had to find out what it was. There is also one hanging from a doorknob outside at my job. It's been there since March and here it is July. Thanks for explaining these abominations.

Horrible little things ate half my tree. I thought the bags were part of the tree all this time until I noticed that the bags had a sort of rope that tied around the branch. Ahh!

Thank you for the video. I'm in Maryland, would spraying the bag before the month of May kill them, or will the bag protect them? And do you know at what temperature they come out? There has been some warm days here already and it will be in the 70's this week.

Hello! I apologize for the late reply. Did you end up spraying the bagworms?
@jamesfish56302 жыл бұрын
Saved one in a plastic zip type bag (for show) and few days later noticed it had tore a hole and was in process of escaping! I burn/squish or soak em in hot soapy water.

Jane, thank you for this video. Bagworms already killed 2 of my arborvitae. Today, I picked over a thousand bagworm cocoons off of my arborvitae, spruce, and deciduous trees. I definitely didn't get them all and will be out every day doing the same thing. Is there a way I can use my garden hose and connect it to a pesticide to spray the tops of my trees? They are way too tall to reach.

@@sira451, sorry I missed your question in your initial post. I would recommend if you can find it, Natural Gaurd Ready to Use. They typically make the spray version and the hose-end version.

@@greensideupgardengifts2165 Thank you and I'll look for the product you've recommended. However, after filling (to the brim) two 30 gallon trash bags with these creatures, I gave up and called a professional. They finally arrived today to spray and literally broke down and cried. This experience has been so stressful and could have been avoided had I known these little monsters existed. I don't want to lose anymore trees and will stay on top of it from now on. Thanks again!

Can you tell me how does the spray actually kill these worms?....When they hatch they crawl on the tree and crawl over the limbs that have been sprayed? Is that how the spray kills them
@lovemitlav Жыл бұрын
Actually I was not known it is a worm now it has spread all over my tree the tree is very tall and spreaded more now all leafs are dried and the plant is loosing the ability to regrowth do you have any suggestion where I don't want to loose my tree bcz I'm attached to it we have little too much bonding between us.
@greensideupgardengifts2165 Жыл бұрын
There may be a commercial spraying company in your area who can come out and spray the entire tree. How tall is it?

Why ? Transport to somewhere else. So they won’t hurt your tree. But still they will live
@greensideupgardengifts21653 жыл бұрын
Transplant shock can also happen when you purchase a tree in a container then plant it in your yard.
