How to Get Rid of Bloodshot Red Eyes and Clean Up Eye-Whites in Photoshop

Learn how to clean-up the sclera, or the white of the eyes, in Photoshop CC. Removing bloodshot eyes with distracting red veins is a hard nut to crack, however, if we break it down into color and details, it can get easier than ever. In this video, we'll be using an arsenal of tools like the selective color and advanced cloning to get rid of redness from the eyes in Photoshop.

First, our job is to remove the unwanted color from the eye which is red, in most cases (if you are a human). To remove it, we are going to use the selective color adjustment layer. If removing the color takes away all the veins, you can stop here because it yields a very natural result.
Next, we'll use the clone stamp tool with the blend mode "Lighten" and a very soft brush to get rid of the veins. This ensures that we paint only over the veins not anywhere else and hence, preserve the details.

I just Select the sclera, hit Ctrl+U, and lower the saturation by about 30 or 40%. *Looks amazing and takes 15 seconds.*

Hi Unmesh. Thanks for the tutorial - I love your method of tuition. I have found that for the first part (removal of the red colour) adding a Hue and Saturation layer then changing the Master to Red and taking the Saturation slider all the way to the left completely removes the reds very quickly.

Great tutorial. Only problem I had, when removing bloodsheds by using selective color, it also changed color of the other areas. How do I change color or the bloodsheds only, without touching any other reds in the picture?

Isn't it easier to make a hue/sat adjustment layer, click on the vein to sample a red and then just desaturate & add luminance as needed? That's how I'd do it, learned from your channel as well 😀

Hey do u know how to get rid of glare on photos using snapseed or any other app for that matter? I have a photo of my family at a restaurant but, it was very dark and when the camera flashed all of our eyes are like bright white/yellow. Do u have any suggestions on how to eliminate that?
