Super easy fix to get rid of that tire wobble. This happens when a tire is very grippy and tight...it sometimes has a hard time seating all the way around the rim. With a little application of soapy water the tire will be able to fully seat properly and get you rolling without that silly tire wobble.

Great tip for people who struggle seating the tire. Two things: First, I do this with a spray bottle and you don't have to take the tire out of the rim. Just deflate it and spray soapy water with the bottle and inflate again and voila!. Second: it's always better to go tubeless :)

What a relief! I recently swapped the tires on my MTB and immediately felt that the bike was wobbly specially the rear end. I figured out that the tire wall was not aligned correctly along the rim but had no idea how to fix it. This video saved me a ton of time and frustration. 👍👍👍

*THANK YOU* This saved me a $300 trip to the shop. A few tips from personal experience: 1) Use more soap than water. I had a whole giant squirt of Dawn dishwashing soap, with just a dash of water from the kitchen sink sprayer to bubble it up a tad. *NOTE* You don't want to use oil or silicone lubricant. Those remain slippery. Soap dries up and becomes tacky. Once the tire is in place you want it to stay there. 2) Use a fat chunk of sidewalk chalk to mark places where the bead of the tire is unevenly tucked. On my tire there was a very distinct line to follow along the edge of the rim, and it was pretty obvious where it had not popped far enough out. 3) Marked both the sidewall and the tread, and spin the tire to confirm that the wobbling was happening right at the chalk. It clearly was for mine. 4) Deflate the tire, and apply generous amounts of soap to the sidewall and rim only where you've marked with chalk. The rest of the tire is seated already, so leave it alone. 5) CAUTION: I would highly recommend researching the PSI limits of your rim and tire before moving on. 6) Slowly and consistently inflate the tire. My bike pump has a gauge, which helped tremendously. I inflated to about 20psi and worked the tire back and forth again with my hands. 7) I went to the absolute limit of both the rim and tire. I also hit the spot with a dead-head hammer (rubber with sand inside) to convince it. This was sufficient for the spot on my back tire. 8) My front tire only had one bad spot, but it didn't want to budge. I had to actually go over the rated pressure (60 psi vs. 50) to get it to pop. It didn't do it right away. It took about a minute. 9) After the tires were seated, I backed off the pressure to get it back within the normal range for the rim/tire. 10) I did not remove either tire from the bike. This worked with the bike upside-down on a flattened box on the garage floor. 11) After cleaning up, I rode the bike, and I couldn't believe the improvement. It rode like new. I couldn't be happier.

DUDE!!!! Thank YOU!!!! How did I not know this? I was so angry my 90$ a pop, Vee Huntsman fat tires were doing this! I was about to get different tires but so dreading replacing them again. My e-bike has a hub motor in each wheel and changing tires is a huge pain in the ace! I deflated my tires, got a spray bottle with some soapy water, and went to town spraying it in the inner sidewall of the rim and along the bead. Inflated it and BAM! THESE TIRES ARE FINALLY SEATED ON THE BEAD!!! Of course it's going to rain for the next few days so I can't confirm the wobble is gone, but I can clearly see an even spacing now, and the ridge of the bead is where it belongs. Bro, you are a lifesaver!

Sick and tyred (pun intended) of putting my trust in to KZbinrs whom I believe know better. Watched a video of one guy who told us to knead the tyre around the rim and then deflate it then knead the tyre and pump it. Tired again and again and again to no avail and thought I’d just ride the bike like a clown bike in the circus. Watched your video and came to the conclusion that I’ve always come to. The simple things are usually the best things. Now I have no wobble. Was a little scary as my pump doesn’t have a pressure gauge so pumped with faith. Two pops later, no wobble. Didn’t work for me with the soap suds first time or second… probably because I lost my nerves with the pump so I used WD40 and there you go. Sir you are a legend for keeping it real and keeping it simple, as life should be. Long may you reign. B

Thank you! Just adding to the long line of people who solved the issue like this. No more bumpy ride on a smooth road. Note - for me it only worked after I really soaked the tire with a soft brush. Using little water with a rag didn't work, nor did WD40 like some people recommended. Also there was no popping sound in my case. It's a little weird that a bike technician told me my wobble was totally normal (apparently sometimes tires just come out like that from factory) and there's nothing I can do about it. Fortunately he wasn't convincing me to buy a new tire, although I was seriously considering it. I rode with a bumpy wheel for about a year because it never occurred to me to lube the darn thing and pump it way above the recommended pressure, I was only pumping just a tad above it. Now I feel stupid for both myself and that "technician" but I'm super glad I solved this.

Nice tip! Will try this out in a minute. I saw with much pleasure that you use tyre levers to get the tyre back on the rim. I saw a (dutch) video in which the guy said: Whatever you do, DON't use tyre levers to put the tyre back on. But I, already for over 30 years, use my (plastic) tyre levers as there is now other way to get them on! I'll let you know if your trick worked for me, though I first want to try this without taking the tyre off. I'll deflate them and wet the tyre like that ;-). EDIT:15 minutes later: Reseated 2 tyres perfectly! Didn't take them off the rim, but deinflated them, sprayed (someone below came up with that great idea) both sides and after that inflated to 50psi. The second tyre almost give me a heart attack, as it 'popped' very loudly, I thought I blew my tyre 🙂. Perfect advise, thank you very much!

Thanks for the fix. I had the same issue - Strangely with Schwalbe tires as well. It had really gotten me down as I tried everything to fix it and still no luck. I also trashed my rim with metal tire levers (snapped all my plastic ones in the process) trying to get the tire on the rim in the first place. The wobble was just the kick in the n*ts that I didn't need.

Nice one!!! I had the same problem with 20x4.0 fatbike tyre - this soapy water trick helped a lot - thanks👍. I just deflated and used medium size paintbrush to give a good dose of soapy water on the tyre and rim. Also even though I over inflated I did not get the "pop" so ended up half inflation and massaging the tyre inward and away with from the rim with my palms to get it to pop in place. I did this all the way around on both sides to get the mounting line as even as possible.

2:25 Once the frame settled (watching the axle points in the background) there was still a large deflection... did you have a bent rim as well (spokes etc)? BTW Viewers... If you have a wobbly tyre it can be the rim tape if it has shifted when fitting the tyre. If the tape gets under one sidewall it can cause a deflection. You can also have a sidewall failure. (See this failure at 40 secs on mark.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hobUaYaMh92ljKs)

so is there water left inside your tire? if so it can shift your inner tube enough to tear it

@@NorthCountryMTB thankyou good toi know i do imaghine this would be ok. i have had issues with water from diy studs. i fill my tires with talcum powder or baby powder. just enough to keep things dry aand fresh lol i wonder if the seating issues lie with owning fat tires.

What if I did this several times, using tons of different soapy water and it still doesn't help?? (People, never ever buy Continental tyres, 4/5 of them (that is precise statistics by me) are wobbly as hell. Had to return many of them)

I had bad luck with Continental tires back in the day. Now we have specialized and MAXXIS and then the schwalbe for the DH rigs.

I have been road biking with 6 friends for 35 years and 6 of us have always used Continental tires without any wobbling. That's our precise statistics. Not arguing with yours, just stating mine.

Tried everything and still got the uneven wobble. Is it a Schwalbe thing?. Been fitting many tyres over the years and always sorted. Before I throw the lot down the road I will sleep on the idea and tune back in tomorrow.
